Beautiful scenery. In our neck of the woods, it’s the cyclists hikers have to watch out for. Most of them seem to think they’re in the Tour de France and careen around the back roads at top speed. God save us from Lycra!
@EdExploresScotland4 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right about the cyclists. You can generally hear a car coming; you can't always hear a cyclist, and they can both be moving at similar speeds in these little roads.

Great walk, stunning views. I will venture back to Scotland when hostilities have ceased 🤞. If l remember rightly the house is made of concrete and was wet through. It was covered over to let it dry out before restoration

Many thanks. Scenery was out of this world. Hopefully the Hill House will be 'unwrapped' before long.

Ed, you should try Helensburgh to Balloch, about 14km. Hen you get to the moor at the top you can see over Loch Lomond and 'the vale'

Cheers Douglas. I walked that a while back, although the other way around, as Day One of the Three Lochs Way. There's a video about it in here somewhere.

Could one get a train from Glasgow to Helensburgh and a train back from Garelochhead and enjoy this section of the three lochs way? Looks stunning
@EdExploresScotland3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your question. The train service between Glasgow and Helensburgh is very good, so getting to Helensburgh is easy. Getting back from Garelochhead is not so straightforward. You could get a train, but the service is quite sparse. You could also get a bus from Garelochhead to Helensburgh. It's just a case of checking times of either before you set out so you know for certain when trains or buses will leave. Travel is of course not permitted at the moment because of Covid, but when things get back to normal this is indeed a cracking walk, although I think I preferred the Garelochhead to Tarbet section for wildness. Take care.

There are buses every half an hour from Garelochhead to Helensburgh (up to about 10pm I think), and trains every half hour from Helensburgh to Glasgow (I think the last one is about 11pm). You could get a train from Garelochhead to Glasgow but there are only about 3 or 4 a day (I think the last one is about 10.45pm).

Nice video, and yes, it is bog myrtle.

Thanks. It's a lovely fragrant plant. During the day I stuck a small twig of it in my pocket, and some days later discovered it and wondered why on earth I had a plant in my pocket!

@@EdExploresScotland I always run my hands over it when I’m out a walk in the summer. It smells lovely and is supposed to be a natural insect repellent. I keep thinking about taking a few cuttings to plant in my garden.

Enjoyed the video Eddy, wonderful countryside to walk through providing you keep clear of those wild drivers and cyclists. I recall slipping while walking on a bank alongside the Duke’s Pass, and falling into a bog myrtle plant. I remember the smell being sweet & spicy, a bit like the scent of cloves. Quick question, have you ever hiked through the Loch Tummel & Loch Rannoch area? Stunning part of Scotland! Looking forward to part 3, take care.

I have a vague memory of walking in that area decades ago. Lovely part of Scotland.

Beautiful scenery. Wish I was there and not here. We've gone into lockdown again with the second wave. This one is a bit more serious than the first. How long did it take you to walk this walk? Did you stay overnight?
@EdExploresScotland4 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your comment. At the moment I'm only doing these walks one day at a time, bus or train there, and bus or train back. Nine miles is a half day, but then you add on filming and all that malarkey. You don't want to be doing too many miles. It's all about experiencing the place in which you arrive.We WILL get through this. Take care.
