This is an official video, but they recorded it with 18 (I think they only used 16) phones and a drone. Their manager, Rudy Joffroy, has background in the cinema industry, and this really was professionally done. As others have said, listen to the live sessions, where they didn't do a whole lot of post-production. Or listen to their performance in Saltillo or Las Vegas. Just as tight. They do use backing tracks on some songs, but they record all of them themselves. They sing seamless harmonies.

KILLER !!!! You have NO idea of what you have just witnessed. These 3 amazing sisters from Mexico are ALL about rock. They play hard rock and may cross a little into metal, but old-school rock, grunge, punk, classic, and even surf rock. One thing for sure is that they are great song writers, performers, musicians, and talented. Some appreciate the sisters more after a few listens and a few different songs. I am sure they will grow on you and leave their catchy hooks and choruses eating at your brain soon. Tim has left quite a comprehensive list in his comments with links, and as a The Warning fan, I would say no song is a bad song. My personal favourites are Dust to Dust, Dull Knives, Animosity to just list a few. Tim has kindly left links. Hope to see you more convinced next time once you get Evolve out your head. Cheers Killer 🤘

Great reaction! Yes, you need to continue this journey! The Warning are the best new rock band in decades, IMHO! I also LOVE Band-Maid, but they are different animal. These three sisters are incredible musicians, amazing songwriters, passionate performers and even better people! They are a classic rock power trio in every sense! I hope you will continue with The Warning, you won't be sorry. They are Future Legends, and as a 55yo lifelong rock fan, I don't say that lightly! You've been Warned!

The Warning is a band of 3 sisters from Monterey, Mexico. Daniella (Dany) turns 22 at the end of Jan., 2022, Paulina (Pau) turns 20 at the beginning of Feb., 2022, and Alejandra (Ale´) will be 18 in Dec, 2022. Their parents loved music and the kids saw many videos of rock concerts growing up. They started in music early when Dany and Pau were enrolled in music initiation class at ages 5 and 3 respectively. Ale´ was too young at that time but when she was old enough learned the same things. They took classical piano lessons and were quite good. When Dany was about 7 their dad bought them the video game Rock Band, and everything changed. They fell in love with rock music and performing (even though it was just a game). When Dany was 8 her dad asked her if she wanted to take up another instrument (along with piano). She chose the guitar. Later Pau chose the drums and Ale´ chose the bass. Ale had only been playing bass for about a month when they, as a group, started playing and recording songs. They practiced hard and in 2014 when they were 14, 12, and 9 years old put out a KZbin video for their grandparents to see how they had progressed in their music. That video was a cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman, and it went viral. To date it has well over 23 million views and has gotten praise from such notable bands as Metallica and many others. The girls were caught off guard completely and had to make a decision. They quit school and began homeschooling so as to have more time to devote to their music. They practiced 2 hours a day separately and another 2 hours together every day- and they still do. Their Enter Sandman video was also noticed by Ellen DeGeneres, and they made their US TV debut on The Ellen Show in 2015. The girls were trying to raise enough money to attend the 5-week classes at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Ellen found this out and she and Target presented each of the girls with a $10k check to attend those classes. Because Ale´ was only 10 years old she had to get a special exemption to attend but she got it. Harmonix, the makers of the Rock Band video game, also noticed the girls and invited them to come to their facilities in Boston for a tour. While there they got to preview the soon-to-be-released Rock Band version IV and were completely caught off guard to see that their song Free Falling was in the game! They started the band because of the Rock Band video game so having their song in the game was amazing to them. In 2015 they also released an EP called Escape the Mind. It was an exploratory group of eclectic songs designed to sort out their style. In 2016 they were invited to participate in a Ted X talk at the University of Nevada where they told their story of how they got into music and started the band- they played 3 great songs (2 originals and a cover of The Foo Fighter’s Pretender). They were a hit and were invited back in 2017 where they talked about producing and launching their first complete LP called XXI Century Blood. They played 3 original songs from that album and wowed the crowd again. In 2018 they released their 2nd album Queen of the Murder Scene. It was a concept album telling the story of a young woman’s journey thru unrequited love- from love, to infatuation, to obsession, to murder, to remorse. It is an amazing album, and every song is performed with great passion. Their Mexican critics called them Cultural Traitors because they did not sing in Spanish and did not sing the traditional Spanish tunes. The Warning’s response was the song Narcissista. It debuted at the end of the 2019 Foro Didi concert in Mexico. The song says, “You say you pray for us, but we don’t see much praying”, and “you don’t know us”, and “you just talk to talk”, and basically tells those critics to Kiss Off! It was purposely written and sung in Spanish to make sure those critics understood every word, and the lyrics were put on the big screen behind them during the performance. You can understand why Pau sung it with so much passion! The Warning was always an independent band and used such tools as Patreon and Kickstarter to fund their efforts. In 2020, after 7 months of negotiations to keep much of their independence, The Warning signed with Lava/Republic records for a 5-record deal. At the time they were 20, 18, and 15 years old. Their first offering from the new record deal is the EP Mayday. It is a 6-song half album of amazing music. Dany is a very accomplished guitar player and sings lead most of the time. Pau is a world-class drummer and sings backup and lead (lead about 20% of the time). Ale´ is an amazing bass player and sings backup and lead when necessary (a bit shy about singing lead). All 3 play keyboards as needed and can jump in to cover singing lead in any song when needed. Here is a short list of video performances- Piano performances when they were very young: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZSnnH6ufcZjeJY kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmrNnIaIZa6khNU 2014 Metallica Enter Sandman cover from their basement studio affectionately called “The Warning Cave”: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5PShox4brF5gLs Ellen show, Berklee College diary, and Harmonix visit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZa5Yol9mtFnoqc 2015 performances of Muse’s Hysteria (10-year-old Ale´ steals the show on bass): kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIaVZ6qjoatmr8k and kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKqqg62hp5qWrdU 2015 Pau doing Escape the Mind (at 13 years old): kzbin.info/www/bejne/raW1faCkhp5gecU 2016 1st Ted X Talk: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqqtnZtmqbN-bLs 2017 2nd Ted X Talk: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppuYpphpgpKpbNE 2018 Lunario CDMX complete concert: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4fGmohpnLKAi7s 2019 Foro Didi complete concert: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4ebmKN_p66Fb9U Mayday EP songs- Choke official video and live session: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ip2yqmOOl6uJoq8 and kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqncg6GjYqxlhrM Evolve official video and live session: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZC1c2Oqh65paJY and kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqncZoqFhpmknMk Martirio official video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYOkZKGDr6tmZ68 Disciple official video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmqqlIZupdmjebs Animosity official video and live session: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZO0eoyPoqmsf6s and kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpykgWCvmdWHr9U “Z” official audio and live session: kzbin.info/www/bejne/amrIkGWmr6mjidk And live session: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opSvpnVorbGfY5o Metallica asked Alessia Cara to do a cover of Enter Sandman for their Blacklist album, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. 53 artists were asked to take those iconic songs and do whatever they wanted with them. Alessia had no idea what to do but because she shares the same management group as The Warning, she contacted them for help. It was difficult to do as Alessia was in Canada and The Warning were in Mexico and travel with COVID was not happening. They made it work and developed the song and recorded it in one week, using David Bendeth to mix and edit that song (David did the amazing work on their Mayday EP). they created the music video with the same logistical restrictions. Because of that you will see that Alessia appears as a projection on the wall in the video as she was not there. It was recorded in an abandoned textile mill outside of Monterey, Mexico: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6WugpqbqKiWisU Alessia and The Warning were the only ones with “the balls” to completely reimagine this iconic classic into the creepy and demented lullaby it was originally written to be- not just another cover. This is just the basics about the band- there is sooo much more to learn about these incredible ladies of rock! As The Warning Army says- You’ve Been Warned!

As noted below these ladies are sisters so yes, there is some similarity in their voices. Normally the guitar player is the lead singer but all three can sing lead when called for. Most usually the drummer will sing lead about 25% of the time even while drumming. They all began by playing classical piano before gravitating to the instruments you saw them with. Pau (pow as in power), the drummer, uses DW drums and Sabian cymbals. Ale (al-leh) is using her custom Spector bass and Dany is using a PRS guitar. Besides the recommendations from others they did a full concert in Saltillo Mexico a couple of weeks ago and a short set at the House of Blues in Las Vegas last week and another in Guadalajara a couple days ago. Their official North American tour is kicking off in a week or so. They are adding dates/appearances pretty regularly at this point. They open for The Foo Fighters in Mexico City this month. In the past they have opened for Stryper, The Killers and Def Leppard as well as a South American tour with the band Eruca Sativa and have played several large festivals. English is actually their second language but they are definitely fluent and usually speak better than most people in the US.

Thanks Anthony I would also really like to point out I was criticizing her talents. It was the way the recording sounded which I may have been able to do a better job explaining. I think she has all the vocal ranges you would need but volume/sound wise it sounded compressed for example the talking parts going into the chorus doesn't change but she's clearly going from a softer range to almost belting or open mouth singing. I did enjoy it more then it may seems though I did have to edit this video and had a chance to really listen to it a bunch and its good.

Very good reaction! It is always interesting to see someone discover these three sisters for the first time. As you mentioned at the start, you will now be getting hundreds of links from fans! I can send you links, though I have had a previous experience with KZbin that made me start sending video titles for people to go look up, though I can see that links in the comments are easier to spot. The Villarreal sisters have performed together since they were 7, 10, and 12, so there is a lot to explore, and well worth exploring! They are currently launching their 2022 tour of Mexico and the US for their recently released _Mayday_ EP. The official music video that you saw was recorded on 16 iPhones and a drone. There is a live version of this song which they performed in a recording studio in their hometown of Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. The Warning have released two EPs, two full-length albums, and like three or four singles, and they have the second half of their third LP (the first half of which is this recent EP) due out soon. Thank you for reacting to The Warning!! Subscribed!

So many comments that are so spot on. I had their Metallica cover in my KZbin feed and within 1 week bought all their music on iTunes and have seen I think is every video on both their KZbin channel and the companion channel The Warning Army. Here is my additional take. You are a drummer, right? You know how important it is for keeping tempo and adding flair… Pau is better than that. She uses her drums to create emotion. Her rolls that start soft and move into whiplash speeds serve up on a silver platter Dany’s next vocal or solo. How many drummers can you name that really create the emotion? Usually, it is the lead vocals or lead guitar and certainly, Dany does that, but Pau… something very rare there. Rare and wonderful. She is IMHO the power of the band. I think she needs to have her kit on an 18” pedestal because looking down at her behind doesn’t do her justice. Ale is then the next level of focus complimenting that power and guiding it to Dany who is the expression of it all. And what expression it is! Dany smiles all the time. Whenever you see her she seems happy. Ale, perhaps, is a bit more subdued, but still has a sweet smile you see all around social media. And then there’s Pau. Pau the Powerful. Pau the rage that drives them. She rarely smiles in photos they take. I don’t know whether that is planned for their image, but I doubt it. I understand she is also the main lyricist, though Dany has written some and they collaborate on all. But if you look for the alpha, watch that small one. She is the dynamite, the TNT, the C4, Semtex, or whatever explosive does it for you. You felt it! You commented how it made you feel when she screamed. Goosebumps, right? I see her as the raging sun that powers the band. I scored VIP tickets to their stop in Minneapolis and hope to tame my inner fanboy before I meet them.

Killer 1st time reaction to The Warning Killer! They opened for The Killers twice. The Villarreal sisters are amazing songwriters and performers. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "Queen of the Murder Scene", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness as she fights for her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI Century Blood", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "Escape the Mind"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group last fall. They recently decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called Mayday. "Disciple" is my favorite track. The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (civil engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English speaking school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. A year or so later, they got "real" instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 22, 20 and 17 years old and have already written and arranged #44 original songs all by themselves! The oldest, Dany (Daniela) plays guitar, keyboards, lead vocals on 75% of their songs, backing harmonies. Pau (Paulina) plays drums, keyboards, lead vocals on 25% of their songs, backing harmonies. Ale` (Alejandra) plays bass, keyboards, backing harmonies. The drummer Pau begins writing around 75% of their songs. In her songs, she starts with a concept, then works on chord progressions and basic song structure on piano while adding lyrics. She then brings it before her sisters and together they transpose each individual instrument's part; making changes along the way. They also complete the lyrics together; since Pau may only bring one verse and a chorus. All 3 must unanimously approve of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Nothing is set in stone until it makes it through the gauntlet. Pau has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both Dany and Ale` write equally great songs; just not as many. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. 🗣Thank you for sharing your reaction/breakdown of this great band with us. Subscribed. 🤘🤠💯🔥

Morthnadic1 Wow, this was very informative and eye-opening to read! Thank you so much for taking the time to share that with me! I love the fact that their parents weren't musicians because this is typical behavior to see musician parents get their kids into music at a very young age so the fact that they were so encouraging and supportive to get them into their passions for music is awesome! Again thank you for the read!

As 3 sisters who have been practicing daily and performing together for some 7 years, they are about as tight as a 3 piece can be. Their music is a blend of classic hard rock, metal, punk and alternative and their songs tend to vary in style from song to song even on the same album. Their raison d’etre however is performing live where they really bring it, whether it’s for an audience of 100 or 10,000. Hope to see you sample more of The Warning! 👍😎

Band Maid has more energy? If you mean they play faster. Ok. They are more technical but that for me doesn't equal better music. More than not it's the opposite for me. I really don't think The Warning wants to or will evolve into Band Maid type music. The Warning are straight forward rock. Have been from the beginning and I for one hope that doesn't change. Great first reaction to my favorite band. You've got a great ear btw... better than I but also insightful, when you said this is what rock should have become. For various reasons it just kind of fizzled and let pop and rap become what young people want to hear. One song and yeah, it might not take you out of your body, but what I'm amazed by is how many good songs (40+) they've written at such a young age vs how many bad songs (not one yet). There's variety of styles within the overall rock genre, even a country song in their repertoire. And they're three of the best humans you'll come across as well. One more reaction to The Warning and I subscribe forever.

I think their earlier training (and by "early", I mean age 6) taught them to "compose" rather than simply "jam" in more of the American jazz-influenced style. All of them learned classical piano very early on. And what this results in is live performances that sound almost exactly like the studio recordings. Which, as many of us who have been frustrated by paying good money to see our favorite bands on stage, and instead we witnessed a bunch of sloppy drunks staggering around, is kind of refreshing. What you heard on the studio track is what you get live. It's kinda cool...

I think you pointed something out inadvertently - the J-rock bands are "like a machine". The sisters in The Warning are from Mexico and they give _passion._ I'll take passion over machine in rock any day, all day. But try some more - 'Animosity', 'Z', and 'Choke' are all available in live sessions, and 'Disciple' in a music video.
@garykeeling2275
@garykeeling2275 2 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with being "like a machine," if they also bring passion for the music and performance into the mix, and the best of the J-rock and J-metal bands actually DO. Band-Maid and Nemophila, especially, bring a TON of passion and fun to their music, in addition to the technical proficiency. Lovebites a little bit less so on the passion, but superior on the technicality. Overall, in terms of a balance of both passion and technical proficiency, I would rate those four, along with the Warning: Band-Maid, Nemophila, The Warning, Lovebites (though Lovebites is my overall favorite of those four, mainly because my personal tastes run more toward metal than rock). The Warning, Band-Maid and Nemo are about even on the passion side, but Band-Maid and Nemo are superior on the technical side (just compared to the current wave of J-rock; I still place them heads and shoulders above just about anything coming out of the US or Europe these days). You also have bands like Gacharic Spin that score high in both categories, but they sometimes kind of lose me when they get too chaotic (Band-Maid has also been known to suffer a bit from the chaos bug).

@@TimberWolf762 I would point to their acoustic version of Puzzle, but that one is not on youtube unfortunately. There are reactions to it, like Julia Nilon. But this might not be as fair since it's only two of them in an acoustic setting. They are on some other providers from other countries (which I am not going to name). From the ones that are on youtube a lot of fans might point to something like daydreaming. I am personally not a huge fan of that song, but it might fit the bill and it is a fan favourite. An other one I would say is their latest acoustic they have done. They posted Catharsis from that one on youtube, but it is only on there temporarily. My guess is until the end of this month when the streaming period of their online live show will be over. That being said, while I do think Band-Maid are very passionate about their music, everybody feels this in a different way. So you might not feel this way, which is totally fine. I like both Band-Maid and The Warning (just like I like a lot of Japanese bands that I have discovered the last year or so). I personally prefer and know Band-Maid a little better than The Warning, but they are actually not that easy to compare even though both of them play Rock music. They are both very good at what they do, but they don't sound anything alike. Band-Maid is getting more technical/frantic with their latest release which might not be for everyone. But I have been a metal fan for the last 20 years or so and personally like that quite a bit, but I do like what The Warning does as well. All the members in both bands are great at their instruments. One last track I can recommend that is maybe a little closer to what The Warning does is Manners by Band-Maid. But again, it's hard to quantify who bring the most "passion". They are all great bands and I love how they and other smaller bands are able to use youtube to widen their fanbases, partially because of reaction channels. All these bands were not at all in my wheelhouse listening mostly to black and some death metal, but I love that these channels widened my horizon and that I found all these great bands. Edit just remember one extra: They made a song during covid for the fans because they missed playing for them live. It is called about Us, you can find it on their youtube channel as a live version. It was meant to be played on a live concert finally after a long time of lockdown that was unfortunately cancelled because of Covid and it made it on a audience-less dvd/blu-ray concert release instead.

@@MaartenT I watched a live and MV version of Daydreaming and the acoustic Catharsis and I can't say that I'm seeing any passion. There's absolutely nothing there that compares to Dany melting down onstage as her character commits murder and descends into madness in Queen of the Murder Scene. Maybe it's the language/cultural barrier, but I don't see it.
@MaartenT
@MaartenT 2 жыл бұрын
@@TimberWolf762 Like I said, I think a concept like passion is a very murky concept as it's very subjective and impossible to measure. The only thing I say is that they are passionate about their music even if they might not show it as clearly, but I agree that the language/culture might have something to do with it. Different cultures express themselves differently and a lot of the Japanese bands tend to be more calculated (I can see why you can call it 'like a machine') in their playingstyle. I am trying not to generalize too much because there are obviously different kinds of people in both cultures, but I have heard a lot of people say that Spanish speaking people do show a lot of passion in how they behave, while you hear a lot that Japanese people tend to be more reserved. I personally don't think that means Japanese bands don't have passion for their music though, just that they either don't show it or show it differently. I do think you can see passion for their craft when you listen to interviews and things like that, but it is rather subtle. But to be fair, I don't think I have seen that specific The Warning video and I can absolutely imagine that they go all out. I do think they are very good at what they do. I am also not trying to convert you or say that you are wrong. Things like preference/taste and how you feel about specific performances are without a doubt subjective, so it is absolutely fine if you don't see it. I hope you at least somewhat enjoyed the music a bit or were able to see their skill regardless, but it is obviously fine if their music is not for you. Edit: I honestly feel like both bands are too different to put them against each other. I generally don't like doing that anyway since it is difficult to do with most bands and I honestly don't think most bands see other bands as genuine "enemies" or something in that vein. They might use them to push themselves to get even better, but I think it usually stays at that level if they even care at all what other bands are doing.

You should definitely look up the live session performances to see how much of the sound is done in post-production. You may be surprised to hear how much they can do with just the three-piece band. You can look this song and compare: Evolve - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqncZoqFhpmknMk And if you found the vocals flat, look up the song "Choke": kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqncg6GjYqxlhrM By the way, there is a Making of for the Evolve music video on their channel and everything is filmed with 18 iPhones and a drone.

This was recorded with 26 I phones and one drone. You are hearing her voice as is, it is the same tone live on stage.

Thanks for the reaction. The Warning is my favorite band. The Japanese rock bands I have listened to do nothing for me--there is no passion and their music is too frantic (fast paced?) for me. Paulina (aka Pau, pronounced Pow), the drummer, uses DW drums, Sabian cymbals, and Firth drumsticks (Sabian and Firth are sponsors). The last I knew, she used a 14 piece kit, including two hi-hats. I agree with your assessment of Dany's vocals on this song. Her voice is filtered or manipulated and it doesn't sound like her normal singing voice. For that reason it took me a while to warm up to the song. I love Pau's drumming though.

Thanks Robert! The song isn't bad at all I really enjoyed it and I hope that it doesn't come off as if I didn't. I have to edit these videos so I spend a good amount of time re listening to the song through that process. The vocals just sounded really compressed and I do hope to see more from them but it definitely wasn't enough to ruin the song for me I don't think. Her drum set is sick and I love the way she's using a drum rack to mount her toms and cymbals.
