A handy tip --- anothe way of dissolving the sugar crystals on the side of the pot is to put the lid of the pot for a moment and allow the steam to condense on the lid and trickle down the sides. Works every time for me. Hope someone finds this useful.

I love how this page has turned into a community of sorts for all of us. I've been cooking for 5 decades and I learn something new every time I watch Becky at work. Not only do I learn from her, but from the many comments from viewers like me. Something as simple as a type of bundt pan that works better is great information. So...thanks all! Have a great day.

I grease a cake pan with shortening. Add a little flour and tilt the pan all around til it’s covered. Give it a whack into the sink or over the garbage can to get rid of the extra flour. Works every time.

Yes! I have done this for years and it works beautifully. I bang the pan upside down in my sink, and out comes the unnecessary flour. Yes to using cocoa powder instead of flour for chocolate cakes. When I was taking Wilton classes at my craft store ,our instructor gave us her recipe to keep our cakes from sticking.Back in the 80's . one cup liquid neutral oil, 1 cup solid oil (crisco), and 1 cup of all-purpose flour keep in a wide mouth jar .Brush on cake pan with parchment paper. Worked great and cheap to make

Here’s a different idea for greasing your Bundt pan. Grease it with spray or solid put about 1/3 cup sugar in the pan and roll it around to coat the inside of your pan and then put your cake batter in it. It’s so nice to have your cake covered with sugar instead of flour. I’ve used this idea for years and it’s always worked for me. ❤

The only difference I made to the recipe was use different chocolates. I had espresso chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, and some semi sweet chocolate chips. All three combined made just enough for 1 recipe. The dark and espresso chocolate chips made it even slightly more special :)

It did take me some time to adjust to the little difference in flavor, but now we prefer it. I can't wait to see more, you're so inspiring and make me really want to get into the kitchen and try so many different things. I figure I'll either win or learn. These look soooo good! A trick for caramel: put a little water with your sugar (that helps dissolve the sugar) and a little glucose or corn syrup (to prevent crystallization of the sugar) then stir a bit. Now put your pan on the heat and, most important: NEVER-EVER stir. Let the sugar-water bubble and swirl you pan once in a while but NEVER use a spatula or a whisk. Once you have the desired colour (lighter = sweeter, darker = more bitter), add you cream (with a spatula or a whisk). Fool proof and stress free!

Becky, I learned this trick on how to get baked goods out of a Bundt pan…every time. I learned it from Erin Andrews, the sportscaster, when she did a cooking demonstration on the Hallmark Morning variety show several years ago. That show is long gone. First, barely melt some butter. You want to heat it just enough that it melts. Then take a pastry brush (not one with plastic bristles, but real bristles). Paint your Bundt pan very carefully with butter. Go in every nook and cranny of your pan until it’s completely covered. Your pan is usually pretty cold and the butter solidifies which is what you want. Don’t let the butter pool in the bottom of the pan. No drops. A good paint job is necessary. Then shake flour on the pan as usual, but don’t use regular flour. Use Wondra flour. It’s the flour that’s ground up finer than regular flour and on the grocery aisle where the regular flour is, usually on the top shelf in a round blue can shaped like a Pringle’s can. I’ve done this for years (I’m 75). Your cake slides out like a greased pig and works every time. I have some very intricate Bundt pans and people always wonder how I do it.

Hi Becky, Enjoy your sharing so much. I have one suggestion as one who had a great rep as a baker. When using flour in cakes ,I would suggest a one time sift followed by spooning of flour into measuring cup then leveling with a straight edge. A one time sift unless recipe calls for more than one sifting .smiles keep up the great work. From a 73 year old mom and gran who lives a wonderful life in spite of MS. Best wishes, Norma

Becky, I have been watching you for years! I enjoy many of your ideas and recipes. I make a lot of bundt cakes and I originally had a lightweight metal pan with a non-stick lining. I was given a heavier pan and I have never gone back to the lighter pan. In my experience, my Nordic Ware (cast aluminum, I think) sprayed with non-stick spray (and sometimes flour or cocoa powder) bakes a more evenly baked cake, and seldom does a cake stick. Keep making great videos!

One way to get bundt cakes out is to lightly spray with olive or avacado oil and sprinkle in some sugar. Roll it around and shake out the remainde. Pat your pan a few times over the sink to get out all excess sugar. It works every time. Great for banana bread or anything similar.

With a Bundt pan I only use goop. It's the only things that never fails especially in a pan with an intricate design...

You can find a recipe for cake goop. Equal part shortening, oil and flour. Make a paste and rub it on.

A bit off topic but I am so excited just had to tell Becky, I was rearranging my pantry area like Becky does and I came across a sure gel box that had gotten pushed back outa sight, when I opened it the sheet for how to make jelly was initially WOO HOO going to make apple and grape jelly tomorrow. Thanks Becky for the information that helped me find it.❤🎉

@@mousemeat1352 Ah seems like me, you notice the weird words/phrases people put in the comments but I have noticed the bad fairy “auto-correct” causes me embarrassment from time to time.🦘🇦🇺

Put either foil under bunt cake. Or use a plate. I normally put my bunt cake on a pie platter or cake platter and then put whatever on top Yummy!❤

I use softened butter smeared in pan and dust a little flour around over the top so it sticks to the butter. This works with oil as well. I have never had anything stick. Additionally, I never ever spray parchment. Nothing sticks to it, so I don't waste the spray.

Non stick for cakes. 1/3 cup of each Flour, vegetable oil, shortening Mix together until smooth. Use a pastry brush to brush your cake pan. This stores well in your pantry.

When you say shortening what exactly do you mean? ❤
@wilmavanbeek1513
@wilmavanbeek1513 Ай бұрын
Crisco or any brand of shortening, in the grocery store you'll find it in the baking aisle, with the lard. Shortening is vegetable based lard, so to speak
