I’d react the exact same as Dara, to the imitations and sneering. Funny when an American does it, it’s not offensive but it’s very different when a Britain does it, no matter how much you like them, it just makes you squirm.

I'm a history buff and a mechanic however that old engine on the barge is so fooken smokey its an atrocity to run it any longer than 5 minutes for demonstration purposes.

its 92 years old both engine and boat. It's a Bolinder E Type 15 HP. 45m is normally not that smoky once running. An atrocity to what? Look at steam engines or old trucks, tanks, all smokey as "fook". You should know that since you said your a mechanic. Cold starts do that, especially this boat, as it rarely used. To the everlasting credit of Swedish Engineering the Bolinder was started without a full dismantling or overhaul after being raised from the bottom of Lough Derg where 45m sat for 30 years after it sank in a storm in 1946 killing 3 crew. .
