I think its safe to say that the Shifters out in California were the original roots guys that brought back the resurgence in traditional Hot Rodding. They showed the world that Hot Rods could be built without a six digit yearly income. Older guys like Rollin Bones picked up on the trend soon after, and didn't follow the high tech Street Rod movement like their peers . This was an entertaining film, and glad its being documented.

I think you'll find the truth of the matter is that the resurgence of traditional Hot Rodding started with the Low Flyers in the UK with the ethos of building as much fun and speed as possible with as little as possible.

@@jackbmth7783 Seeing those (then kids) back in the 1980s, then exploding in the 1990s, I must respectfully disagree. Their cars weren't the only thing that was a throwback to the 1940s and 50s, they were equally as nostalgic. This is what I was referring to. It was a total lifestyle/package, and appears to be that way today.

The men responsible for traditional hot rodding are the guys who built these things in the 30s 40s and 50s. EVERYTHING is a copy of what they did. NO ONE born after WWII can take any credit for traditional hot rods. TF outa here with that shit yo.

Been a mechanic for 20 years, and all I ever got to work on was modern crap. I still have a welder and plasma cutter for my own projects. I turned my 76 stepside Silverado into as close to an old school hot rod as I could manage. Big block, 4 speed, flat black. Made my grill instead of buying one, made taillight holders. This spring I'm going to put a 57 Chevy wagon tailgate on it and do a roll pan. If I ever got any money, I'd never buy anything new.( Newest thing I own is 1999, and even it's a bit too new). I was born in the wrong time Thank you for using these cars as intended. Road zombies for life

Thanks for a great video.😎 Bonneville is still the bastion of homegrown racing & thanks to SCTA & USFRA the widest variety of vehicles can still be seen running on the salt. If you ever wanted to go, do it "Soon" as we are losing it at an alarming rate to Mining supported by the Bureau of Land Mismanagement for profit. Weather permitting there are 4 meets open to the public with Speed Week starting on the second weekend in August.

NO! I'm sorry. But when they swapped EVERYTHING out on the car. It died for me. Hot Rodding is, to me, race what you brought. Not swap the drivetrain, strip the interior and fit a pre build cage and all the other stuff. Dreaming of having a flathead, manual 32 coupe. But what these guys are doing, kinda makes me not wanna. That said. The multiple car cruising, the friendships the times spent working on the cars. THAT is Hot Rodding.

"i had to stop and find a store with a big window to see myself in the reflection to verify my arm was hanging out in a what we like to call "a badass fashion" after the 3rd or 4th pass i was able to get the angle right. i made some marks on the door with a white grease pencil where my arm was so as to never have to go through this again. it was then i saw someone had disturbed the salt i had carefully arranged on the cowl, and now i was pissed. that salt tells the world what i'm into. things only got worse. i looked down at my finned gauge panel and complemented myself on the deal i had found at speedway and convinced myself that the fins were in fact doing a great job at cooling the aluminum panel. i was calm for the moment. i should have kept my eyes on the store window but they wondered down for no more than a split second. thats all it took. i think i knew. my star bucks cup was at less than half full and we wouldn't make our destination for 15 more minutes. WTF! I was prepared for just about anything, but not this. i pulled the star bucks sissy boy phone app already installed on my apple15 phone. i was shouting at the sky as my personal drone filmed a quick spinning lift out for maximum effect showing my sanity leaving my broken mind. . the wind from the props disturbed more cowl salt. someone would have to pay. . . .
