@@jarvislarson6864 I guess depends on what you like. If you like a loud obnoxious 427 Side Oiler well, the flattie isn't for you. Personally, I love both. I have a bone stock flattie in my '53 F100. My brother has the 427 side Oiler in his '65 F100. They are both great. What I HATE are these kid's Japanese cars that sound like bumble bees in a can and loud as Hell. Oh, wait...Also I can't stand the guys with the loud as Hell new Mustangs and Chargers. "Let's see how loud can I make it"? Yeah, I'm old...58 YO. "Now, get off my lawn"!

I’m 77 and I started tearing into Flatheads when I was 12 years old. I know or know of most of these guys. These guys are the core of true Hot Rodding. Interesting. I'm a year younger, hung with older car guys from pre teen years, learned right away flattys don't have any top end power. Great movie but I'm a fan of the Big Block Chevy, and the 385 Ford is pretty good too.

I enjoyed watching this movie. I helped my cousin rebuild the Mercury flathead in his '41 Ford when I was in junior high school. It was stock, but loads of fun. I was amused how everyone in the movie called them motors. I was taught that motors ran on electricity and engines ran on fuel.

I know nothing about these engines or traditions but it is so cool. Growing up in America I’ve always loved the hot rod scene but have never got into it. But the 40s and 50s style is iconic Americana and has stayed cool after all these years. It’s funny because Chicanos chose to go in the opposite direction with low and slow cars. I wonder if race had anything to do with why Chicanos chose the opposite of what White hot rodders were doing?
