Used to fish here 30 years ago , it’s always been an awesome tailwater fishery . Got invited to the Elktrout lodge once outside of Kremmling and got to fish the ranch below where you were , giant fish but private float through only . Also fished the Troublesome , Williams Fork , the Colorado plus a bunch of ranch ponds all in that area . Fishermens paradise. Thanks for the memories :-)

Man, that was great. I grew up in Dillon in the 70's and 80's and the Blue was my home water. I mainly fished below the Dillon lake dam before it got developed with factory stores etc. Had no need to drive way down to Green Mountain to get good fishing but wow, that place was great. The quality of fish in there along with the beauty was awesome to see. Also, we used to jump that cliff into the reservoir at 3:08. That was fun to see. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, it was a good day. Flows as of 07/22/20 are surprisingly hovering around 400cfs. That’s a great flow to wade fish it. Might have to head back in the next couple days.

@CombatFlyFishing4 жыл бұрын
Paul, thank you. I’m glad you’re enjoying our videos. As far as flies go, it really depends on the flows and time of year, but there is an abundance of caddis, BWOs, and stone flies. Grey RS2s, Graphic Caddis, and flashback pheasant tails will bring plenty of trout to the net during the spring months.

So fun to watch.. I've driven over that dam many times and never paid attention to the road that follows the river down stream. How far a walk down to the river from your parking spot? Is the gun for people or bears....

Awesome video I'm over here at work passing time. Would you recommend this area for mid March? Not from the area and I'm coming up for my brother in-laws birthday to do some euro nymphing. Not sure what would be best mid-march considering snow levels and accessibility. I would GREATLY appreciate any advice you are willing to share or even if there's a better river that's within 2 hours of Lakewood area to go to during Mid March. Please and thank you. Tight lines!!!

Awesome videos! Love seeing amazing Colorado places. What is your typical nymphing rig setup?
@CombatFlyFishing4 жыл бұрын
Landon, it really depends on the flows, and the water I’m fishing, but for these tail waters I like to tight line nymph when the fish or the run is close or within wading distance, otherwise I use an indicator system if I have to cast any distance. -Tim

Well, I use the same flies I use for any of the Colorado tailwaters. Beatis patterns like P-tails, RS2s, Barr's Emergers, and Chocolate Thunders in sizes 18-22 will bring a fair amount of trout to the net. Caddis patterns like the Graphic Caddis, Hair's Ear, and Bucksins will make for a fantastic attractor fly.
