own one 4-5 years now, spikes on wheels are a must have! ACS is useless, works like a champ without it. Another weak point that actually should be a recall by worx due to extremely high number of people having an issue is the -> charger, it will go bad eventually 100% TIP: don`t buy another one for like a $100 cause it will fail again, just get a Mean Well PSU for like $20

I'm using a Landroid Worx WG793E.1 since 2016 (6 years) - it works perfectly well. I had to change the battery after 5 years (65$) that's all. No fertilisers needed anymore. During the winter i brought the landroid inside to avoid freezing ... moles came back ! But after a few weeks operaint agein, moles are gone ! I have no moss in the grass

Those black fins at the front, I believe are to straighten out the grass in case it's a bit tangled. A bit like a barber combs out your hair before snipping it with the scissors. As you discovered when you lifted the machine, the blades are further back. Otherwise a good video & the idea of the frame around your tree is a good idea.

A mower that doesn't have a guideline like the Worx is no good. After a year it will get stuck all the time on the way home. I have shifted to a Gardena, and it has a guide wire. It's awesome and never gets stuck. So always go for a front wheel drive, and support for guide wire. Everything else is a no-go.
@maciekzientara
@maciekzientara 2 жыл бұрын
With landroid we do not need guide wire. If we equip it with off limits sensor we may do shortcuts to charging base so it does not have to follow whole perimeter to get home. Really useful in my opinion. Also another wire (guide wire) in lawn is a PITA for dethaching.

Hey Mike, great video. I do have a question about the setup before I run my boundary wire I'm hoping you might be able to answer. Stepping out of my front door I have a walkway which leads down to a public sidewalk and then a strip of grass before the curb and street (called a road verge, easement, whatever) which our town expects us to maintain. How do I run the wire the lawn before the sidewalk, over/under the sidewalk to the strip of grass between the sidewalk and the curb/street? Generally speaking how do you run wires over pavement?

I just got the 149E and it’s wasted 3 days of my life trying to get it to work properly. I tested the perimeter run relentlessly as I built it. It was like a laser. All going well. Every time I did a corner I sent it for a test run. No issue. Then I did an actual mow and it got stuck. Now for whatever issue. It zig zags like a drunk driver over the boundary and gets caught in a left and right loop on every single internal 90 apex (with curved 45 x 2 internals). I have followed the manual to a T. While it’s busy zig zagging in straight lines, it often skips over the wire and scraps and hits the concrete garden edge and try’s to turn the wrong way digging up my immaculate lawn. Far out I’m annoyed with this POS. Why would it follow my boundary 20+ times, and then fail 100% of the time after asking it to do a mow session. Looks like I can’t force a factory reset... and can’t get (manually) download firmware for the 149E either.

@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
It's a mixture of St. Augustine and bermuda. Weird combination but I just keep it cut around 2 inches to appease both grasses. It works good as long as I run it every day. If it takes a couple of days off, then you can start to see the difference in grass heights from the cut and uncut grasses.

So in the case of the tennis ball, if a toddler was laying on the ground, or was curious and put their arm down, it probably wouldn't recognize it being a child without the sensor?
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
Right. The landroid will turn when it meets resistance, so if it bumps into a child standing or on the ground it will turn away. However, if the child's arm is small enough to go under the landroid, it will more than likely get cut up pretty good. I do not have the Anti Collision System, but according to Worx, it recognizes objects that are at least 5 inches high so it should turn away from a child when it approaches it.
@MarieLuiseOrland
@MarieLuiseOrland 3 жыл бұрын
Worx wrote in the manual, that you shouldn't leave the mower alone with pets and children. You can cancel the automatic jobs in case your kids play in the yard.
@Hoffmanpack
@Hoffmanpack 2 жыл бұрын
The Blades break back when they encounter force. It would most likeley have the highest chance of stopping before even making contact due to the fact it would have to run over it just right and would likely not be positioned perfectly to nick a finger off beacuse most kids dont lay perfectly prone. Id say it would hit a todler in the face before getting the cutting blades close enough to a finger. In that case it would stop, the one that I saw was a Doggy tail laying about infront of the machine. That probably would have gotten tangled up and even cut in a few places by the spinning razor blades but it probably also would have stopped or the dog would have ran away upon contact. Really a super small chance of that perfect angle and when considering the chances of doing that in a Gas pwoered riding lawn mower like foot chopping and arm removal probably are way more likley due to the motors ability to take a few punches and keep spinning at Finger Lopping speeds.

So how does it know when the lawn is totally cut? Will it complete the entire lawn in 1 outing?
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
The landroid runs until it hits 11% let on the battery than goes back home. The "L" landroid could cut a smaller lawn in one outing, but my yard takes a couple trips because it is random. However, the yard will always have a uniform appearance if you run it every day because it is constantly cutting off tiny amounts of grass so the fractions of an inch difference between cut and uncut portions won't be noticeable.

This vid was really great man. I take it that you maybe recommend this and everyone's situation is different so I get that part. Bud do you really actually reecommend this? I live in a trailer park and I know that I would need to keep an eye on it to make sure it's not stolen. The main thing I want to know is is it worth the money and is it difficult to set the boundary lines for it. I pretty much know your answer but thanks for putting your review here for everyone.
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
I really do like having a robot lawnmower. I hate to mow the grass and this keeps me from having to do it. For me, the money I spent is well worth the time I have saved by not having to mow every 4 or 5 days. I have not tried any other robot mowers, but I am really happy with the landroid. If you are worried about it getting stolen, there is a gps mod that can help track it if it leaves your boundary wire and a code that you need to input to unlock it if someone steals it. Putting the wire is tedious in my opinion. I ended up staking the wire down every 12 to 18ish inches. But once it is in place, I have been fortunate and have only had a couple instances where the landroid gave me an error, and it has only happened when the ground was wet/ muddy and the landroid slipped when trying to make a 90 degree turn.

How long, duration of time, will the landroid run? How long does it take to charge? Will it start back where it stopped due to low battery?
@MarieLuiseOrland
@MarieLuiseOrland 3 жыл бұрын
it depends on the size of the battery. In the manual they talk about 3 sizes (2Ah up to 5Ah). My landroid came with the smallest battery (2Ah). It runs between 1,5 and 2 hours and charges round about 45 minutes. Automatically it drives 2 cycles a day. Because the mower drives randomly it didn't know where it was. But it runs every day. So it doesn't matter if it mow every piece in a day. We have the model L for 1000qm and our yard has a size of 600qm.

@HangingOutWithMike

How narrow is the area? Off the top of my head, I think the blade wheel width is a little about 7 inches, so as long as there is no raised areas to hit the blade, that would be the narrowest path for the blade. However the actual landroid is about 18 inches wide. Does this answer your question?

I have a small front yard with two areas to mow, one is like 40' x 50' and the other is 8' x 10'.The smaller of the two areas is on the other side of standard width sidewalk. I plan on parking and charging the robot in my garage which is directly beside the smaller of the two areas. I have two questions, (1) can the robot cross a sidewalk without being picked up and moved and (2) can I run the wire over concrete roughly 5' into the garage to the docking station. I looked at other brands and after watching your video and several others I believe the Worx mower is the best bang for your buck. It's the only one with GPS at a reasonable price. Also I am looking for an automatic mower that I can operate from my iPhone as my Wifi in the garage can be spotty.
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
1) The landroid can cross the sidewalk as long as there is a boundary wire crossing it to follow and it is levelish with the yard. 2) Yes you can run the wire over concrete. I have mine running over concrete on my back porch where I have my landroid set up. I put a couple of out door rugs over the wire to help hold it in place. At about the 8:40 minute mark you can see how I have it set up over concrete. If you are interested in the "multi-zone" setting, which I think might be a solution for you with the two separate areas, I just posted a video this morning showing the set-up and how it works. I'm in NC and I usually run it from 12 - 7, probably overkill, but that way if it rains I know the grass will get cut the next day. I start at 12 to give the grass a chance to dry off from the dew and then I make it stop before the frogs and toads start coming out.

Thanks for a nice video, and also for taking your time to answer comments. I am about to buy L2000, but I think I will also have to buy the Wao860 navigation add on, so I will be able to “see” trees and bushes, instead of bumbing into them. Reason why is that I have so many trees and bushes in my garden that border wire would be crazy amount of wire and time. If no wire and eyes, then it would not be able to get to the other half of the garden, because going between the 10 trees in the middle in.a strait line would be winning the lottery, and a one way ticket. So I would love a review of the eyes and maybe also the wifi extension module, as this i my sommerhouse, and it needs to reach wifi in other end of garden, if it is stuck and needs to tell me. Thanks

That looks like a great model. Unfortunately in the States we are still limited to three models. I will get the anti-collision and do a review and see how it works. But it might be a few weeks because it looks like it is out of stock right now. If you didn't want to purchase the WA0860 add-on, you could set up two "zones" in your yard. A zone basically tells your landroid where to start mowing from. You could set up a zone on both sides of the trees so that you wouldn't have to worry about it navigating between them and you could run just one wire around all the trees and treat them as part of the outer perimeter. Then you wouldn't have to worry about the landroid damaging or getting stuck on your trees and bushes. Here is a link to a video I did that shows the zone set-up, hopefully this will show what I am trying to say about the zone: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJ2lZ5iOqp2ao7M

Person in our neighborhood has one of these and it does literally nothing. It maybe cutting but not like a traditional mower. I can never tell. BTW the yard looks like it's been cut with mower with dull blades. Idk just my observation by riding by everyday
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
You can't really tell it is cutting. Because it goes in a random pattern, you are not going to get the nice lines that a traditional mower leaves behind.
@aucoima
@aucoima 3 жыл бұрын
It seems inefficient. It should cut back and forth, not in a random pattern. Does it cut over the same area multiple times?
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will cut over the same area because of it's random pattern while cutting. I believe the idea of having it cut randomly is so that you always have a nice even lawn with no lines.

what about pine cones or sticks in the yard?
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
The blades are supposed to rotate freely underneath so I would assume that the most that will happen is that sticks get stripped of bark. I do not think it is strong enough to chop up sticks. Depending on the pine cone size, once again I am assuming it will just push them around if they are too big to go under or will just get stuck underneath. I will make a video testing this.

How big is your yard

@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
Approximately 1/4 acre

I'm thinking about getting this. But the property I'm getting is 0.53 acres. Will one be enough? Will it know all the areas that it mowed and then I'll go back to charge and then come back and finish the rest? Or should I go ahead and just get the Husqvarna one?
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
I think one will be enough, however it won't cut it all in one charge and it doesn't know where it stops before going to charge. It basically just criss crosses the yard at different angles. In the app you put in your yard size and then it decides how long it will mow each day, however you can override the automatic setting and manually adjust the amount of time it works each day. I have never used the Husqvarna one, but I am happy with the Landroid.

Great video!! I’m ready to purchase, I do have a question to everyone. I have a standard width gate separating front from back yard. As long as I prop it open, I feel like the mower will go through the gate. I was going to place the wire along side post of the gate. Thanks for any replies

I live in PSL FL, it rains quite a bit here, a lot of homes have swales (a drainage half pipe about a foot wide) in their front yards, kinda like a regular drainage ditch but sort of lined with a half pipe. Any idea how this mower would handle that? Additionally at times there is standing water in a low spot, do you know if it will turn away or proceed and drown itself? Thanks, Tim
@RSbz
@RSbz 4 жыл бұрын
It will go into puddles. People have reported it going out of a lake boundary and underwater and worked afterwards, though. For the swale, you'd have to check the slopes. The mower might slip or overturn when coming in at an acute or obtuse angle, but I'd be especially concerned about it getting stuck if entering at 90 degree angle to valley. There needs to be enough valley width for the mower length to sit and not dig its front into the opposite slope, you see? The front wheels are set behind the front bumper (where the black teeth are). The swale can't be round.

Mine will get stuck if it goes down a little slope & hits the wire, then it tries to backward turn but it actually slide forward down over the wire, then it's into the road.

Can you keep it in the rain in charge
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
I would not charge it if it was actively raining on the landroid and base. I would at the minimum have overhead cover to keep the water from falling directly on the landroid while charging. However, mine has returned home after getting rained on so the charging posts were wet when it went "home" and it still charged with no issues.

How is the cut quality compared to a walk behind lawn mower?
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
I am no lawn expert, but I think the quality is good. You will not get the lines you typically get from a walk behind mower because it cuts in a random pattern.

Can this be left out in the rain, or does it have to under a cover?
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 4 жыл бұрын
Great question! According to Worx, it has an all weather design. www.worx.com/landroid-l-20v-cordless-robotic-lawn-mower-wr150.html . Mine has been caught in a few torrential downpours while mowing and it still works no problem. I would assume it can be left out in the rain, but for what these cost, I would not want to leave it sitting in the rain.

I did the layout and installation by studying the on line videos Husqvarna had on the web kzbin.infoUgkx2KDztGvdU79XTmlqIMSUyPq8CjprGJOR also recommended it When I started the unit it stated it would take a few days to learn all the spots in the yard. So I thought it was just finding the areas till I noticed it was cutting. It is so quite you don't know it is cutting.

How well does this handle wet grass? Where I live, we tend to have a fair amount of dew in the mornings and I'd like to run it at night vs during the day.
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 4 жыл бұрын
It is pretty humid in NC and the grass is sometimes still damp when I start it around 11 or 12. It cuts the grass fine, but I have to clean the "gunk" out from under the blades because they will get stuck. The blades are meant to rotate freely on the spinning wheel, however, when wet grass and dirt get under the blade, the blade has the potential to get stuck facing in. I usually check the blades in the morning before starting it for the days run.

I own an L1500 and after a year I think for a regular garden it's useless, requires human intervention several times a day. It leaves the wire with no reason then stops with error message, or gives "mower lifted" error because there's a 1cm deep pit which is normal I guess in a garden which you use or if you have a dog. Firmware is getting worse and worse with updates leading to more full stops per day. Works fine if you had a perfect garden and the cut quality is excellent but for most of us it simply does not do the job as it's not capable to work on its own. I deeply regret my decision to purchase a Landroid.
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 3 жыл бұрын
I am sorry to hear that. You are not alone. In the facebook group, that is a common complaint, especially with the latest update. However, I have minimal issues and there has only been a handful of times where my landroid crossed the wire or showed an error and my yard is far from level. I have holes and trenches my dogs dug to get moles that are poorly filled as well as just overall uneven areas due to rain washing out the ground before the grass grew.

Why do need a boundary wire or wall around the tree if the machine redirects itself? Not being a smarta*#, trying to better understand.
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 2 жыл бұрын
Unless you have the Anti-COllision Senor, the landroid will not redirect itself until it bumps into something. So I did not want the landroid hitting the tree because it was recently planted before getting the landroid. Once I bought the Anti Collision Sensor, I could remove the wire around the tree, but it was not worth the hassle to me to re-wire the back yard.

These Machines are crap. We have bought of them, both are now broken after less then 2 years. Service ...ha ha. If you deal with them it takes ages, so we gave up, organized parts from Germany and fixed them ourself. Both main rotor engine broken (bearings) and on one the STOP bottom get stucked. We would never buy them again.

Hello. Thank you for the video. Can rain or an automatic watering system damage the robot or charging station?
@HangingOutWithMike
@HangingOutWithMike 2 жыл бұрын
The landroid is water resistant so it can take a little rain. Mine has been caught in a sudden downpour and still works with no issues. And even with it being wet, it still charged just fine. It does have rain sensors so once they get wet, it will return home. Be warned that if the landroid happens to brush against wet bushes, it can get water on the sensors as well and return home due to it thinking it is raining. My charging station is under my covered porch but I would assume rain wouldn't effect that either since it is made to be outside.
