Welcome to the third month! By now, your baby has discovered that there's more to life than just eating, pooping, and crying, though he's still probably doing plenty of all three. Sleep may still be a wild card, but chances are your baby is finally catching more of his Zs at night, leaving more playtime during the daytime and lots of waking hours for your bouncing baby to socialize, soak up his surroundings, and most important, learn new skills.
And when it comes to learning, no one does it faster than a baby, especially with a little help from her first and most important teacher: you. Captivate your cutie with brightly colored board books, mobiles that spin, squeeze toys that squeak, beads to finger, soft toys to clutch, rattles to shake, activity bars to bat at and pull on. Toys that make noise, light up, or play music score extra points, as does anything your baby can safely stuff in her mouth, including and especially those fascinating fingers, yours too.
Just don't go overboard. An infant's circuits get overloaded pretty easily, so if your baby starts fussing or squirming or tuning you out, he's letting you know he's had enough.
Does your little one love being in the swing of things? Most babies do, but make sure you alternate swing or bouncer time with supervised tummy time so she can flex the muscles that will power new skills like lifting her head 45 degrees when on her tummy, which most babies this age can do, or even pumping up her chest supported by her arms, which about half of babies can do. Changing baby's positions helps work different muscles but also keeps your little one's interest with different perspectives.
Other ways to help your baby get physical? Gently pull him to a sitting position on your lap, planting a kiss when he arrives at your smiling face. Fly him securely in your arms, letting those sweet arms and legs wiggle, then bring him down for a belly raspberry. Bicycle those little legs when he's on his back, clap his hands together, or take them on a round of head, shoulders, knees and toes.
Most of all, remember that no one can tell you more about what your baby needs or wants than your baby. So continue to take your cues from her. She'll let you know when she's hungry, sleepy, craves a cuddle or a kiss, seeks a smile, a song, some silliness, a rub down, a little space, the chance to chill, and of course, a clean, dry diaper.
Meet her needs, and you're speaking her language before she's even learned word one, letting her know she's safe, secure, loved, and in good and loving hands. Make that the best hands, yours. Here's to a happy third month!

My Little guy will be 3 month on 11/22. He’s already trying to walk, talk, and crawl. He loves standing up. I was happy at 2 months , he started sleeping 14-15 hours even when being woken very 3-4hrs for diaper changes and feeding.

I’m looking at her asleep in her swing now. I’m going to carefully follow her development from here on out and take advice from experts. I’m a lucky dad. So far I guess I’ve done good on my own because she’s ahead in so many ways, but I want to be sure I’m giving her what she needs. I believed until tonight that you could “spoil” them at this age. It’s a good thing I live in an apartment and have been attentive to her needs to keep the neighbors from going crazy or for three months I would have been doing it wrong. :p I hate this place, but thank god for that, otherwise I would have been letting her “cry it out” which is the wrong thing to do. Congrats to all of you reading this.

So September 22nd? My little girl is October 22nd :). It’s been so much fun but god I’m exhausted. Mom has to leave for work at 2 AM and it’s all me until 11:30 AM. I’ve been reading tonight about how to make her develop good and on schedule. I don’t want her to fall behind because of something I’m doing wrong. I have older kids, but I was younger when they were born and I want to get this one 100% right. I know that isn’t 100% possible, but god I’m happy to be doing this and I’m gonna try. I used to resent my mom for doing better by my sister (8 years younger than me), but I get it now. Why repeat the same old mistakes? Congrats to you and I hope your little boy is doing well. :)

My girl is 2 mth & almost 2 weeks. Yeah she does seem likes she's becoming more aware & used to things. But her sleeping & what I'm going through does mess w/ my mood at xs. Most ppl r so fascinated w/ tiny humans & I dont wanna be rude but it's just like plz get out of our way. I'm either holding her standing up or wever strenuous thing I'm doing, that's awkward for me to get around, & w/ her being so small, she still can't fit in anything conveniently more comfortable. Its fun when they either pick up on my vibe or theyre focus just directly goes to her. Ive crossed ppl I've hated too.. I mean, not sure what part of she's my kid aren't ppl understanding. Or they just act like their little passer byer moment, they must have all the correct answers bc y is ur baby crying.. 1) bc its not that serious. 2) you're stalling more unnecessary time by being in the way. 3) shell sense my frustration. 4) you do realize I'm tired from all this, right? Bc im not a passer beer moment? No? Ok. 5) move!!!!!! Also my munchkin at any random moment tho: I just used the bafroom! The funniest thing she's doing at this time period is lifting up her legs & booty up when I change her. Like good looking out, kiddo! She hates being strapped in anything. & I think she likes telletubbies. But I wish I could find Tom & Jerry. I think she's more amused by jerry. Carseats, sitting rocking chair, stroller, carrier, wever. Anything that contains her, she hates. That'd be my kiddo 😊😅

New mommy here! Baby is 3 months old but was born at 36 weeks and 3 days. Should I expect him to achieve all month appropriate milestones or is he technically a month younger? 🤯 He's doing great meeting all milestones so far though, he's just a bit smaller. 👍🏼🤞🏼

My babe was born at 36.4, and our peds said for the first 2 years of life you anticipate milestones based on their expected due date (not their birthdate). So while my baby was exactly three months of age yesterday, she's only in her 9th week developmentally. BUT that doesn't mean our wee ones won't meet some of their milestones according to their birthdate. Even term babies meet milestones early and late. There is a lot of variety, and milestones timeframes are averages.

I have a 36 weeker (had her at exactly 36 weeks!). She's in the middle developmentally. I don't worry if she doesn't meet all her chronological age milestones but focus on adjusted age.

@Kimberly Benjamin My son is 3 months and a week. He was on lactose intolerant formula and still so fussy. I got some infant oatmeal cereal and added a teaspoon of that to each bottle, NO MORE FUSSING! Hope this helps😊💞
