My husband and I went to Florida in mid feb and we slept at Cracker Barrel 2x’s. But it was lower 30’s. And as usual I was totally prepared. I had the bed made so we could jump right in from driving so long each night. I had 2-12v heated blankets and they totally saved us.

As I watched this, your video, all I could think of was all the other women out there on the road who never get to go home again. The women making tough choices and struggling to survive. It's easy to miss Massachusetts, I grew up in Norwood, then beboped all around Boston after college and settled on Nantucket for 16 years, only to move off to Florida for many years, then took a second home back in West Roxbury, then finally, Roslidale Village, with the Arboretum as my backyard. I miss the 9 minute hop skip on the commuter rail into Back Bay. I miss Boston, and the island. I've always been a nomad for as long as I can remember, and my true home is not this earth. I'm just a visitor. I've led a "Big Fish" life, but suffered many losses and traumas along the way. I can relate to "Kim on a limb" having lost my bestie of 40 years, that there will now be no more traveling/photographing with. I've lost Both my Northern diggs in "Rozzie Square" and my Southern "Chateau-Fay" in Sarasota. But I haven't lost my faith, my sensitivity & empathy for others, nor my sense of humor or descernment. My hope for myself, when I find myself on the road, and for the other women out there, is safety first and peace. Inner peace, self actualization, acceptance, and joy in that. We come with nothing, leave with nothing, but what we gave. The thing I think I'll enjoy most about vanlife is enjoying and living in the moment. My projects and of course meeting all the other brave hearts out there. Be well, stay warm, Aloha.

I don't think I'll ever travel with kitty girl. my son adores her as much as I do and he takes wonderful care of her. she is 17 years old and I don't need to take her with me, I think she's happier with the simple life at home with my son. if he wasn't around to care for her, I would likely try to take her with me and hope she would acclimate.

sometime a short nap does refresh you, if I feel myself getting tired while driving, I pull over into a rest area/park etc. put my head back for 30 minutes then get out and do a short walk and i'm refreshed for a couple more hours. I got that space heater when you mentioned it a couple months ago I used it for a camping trip in February (I was plugged in at a camp ground) it was cold out lows 25 degrees, and it worked great. I'm a home body as well and it's nice to hear that you don't feel like your home sick because you have your home with you I'm retiring in 4 months put my paperwork in on Monday, my biggest fear is that I don't like the traveling I've been looking for one, I'm going to do a fit out on a Ford Transit high top van this summer as I currently have a travel trailer but i want something more nimble that I don't have to think about every move, something as simple as getting gas has to be thought out.
