I know Dan Carter got all the accolades after High school but Sam Tuitupou was the best player back in that generation. Those idiots at the Blues had him playing crash-ball rugby when he was way more skillful than that.

It kinda worked for the Blues game pattern in those days. The game revolved around Carlos Spencer and the flyers outside of him-Howlett, Rico Gear, Joe Rok, Rupeni and Mils. They need just need front foot ball and they can finish the rest. Sam was only used to crash the ball because the skill set of other backs wasn’t as good as they are now. Wayne Smith said that when they took over the ABs 2004, most players couldn’t pass left and right.

This is how it's supposed to work - can't p[ick anyone with a brown skin ( incl Maoris) because, well, they're not "real kiwis".And anyone caucasian playing rugby - they generally have british ancestry,so they have to make themselves available for the home unions.
