Three species phalaenopsis orchids in bloom - bellina, pulchra, and regneiriana

Well, pulchra means beautiful and bellina cute, I guess they really were right on the names of these plants! Anyway, I'm trying to grow my Phalaenopsis collection after a major loss and didn't know what plant to restart with but I guess my first plants are going to be a bellina and a pulchra. I live in an apartment in Rome that is just so dark and Phalaenopsis along with Paphiopedilums are the only orchids that really thrive in my conditions. Great plants! Hope to see a new video soon.

Oh yeah, you reminded me of the word "pulchritude" which means beauty. But kind of sounds like "puke" or something so I don't always use it, haha!! I have never had the slipper orchid urge, but I love seeing a good slipper collection! :)

@@artistenoire If you have a garden try out Cypripediums, they are one of the most rewarding orchids ever! Also, Paphiopedilum helenae is a great slipper orchid it's so tiny is just adorable!

There is a tattoo video coming out next week, don't u worry your pretty little head. :) Also, regarding growths in different kinds of light, it's true! If you grow orchids in inadequate light, their growths will get lanky and long because they are stretching themselves out trying to get the most sun possible. When they get adequate light, the growths/leaves will be more compact and squat.

He doesn't, but every cat is different. My cat likes to eat ribbons and string, which can block his intestines and kill him, but he doesn't bother my orchids. And some people can leave their knitting around their cat and their cat plays with it like a toy without eating it!! So every cat is different. It helps that I keep my orchids on a shelf where it is harder for him to climb.

Your Phal regneriana(formerly Doritis regneriana)needs higher light. It should have many longish narrow leaves and grow upright. It grows at the base of tree. Your bellina responds to day length. YOU NEED TO FERTILIZE! In nature they get a lot of fertilizer in the form of detritus, dead bugs, moss, bird poo, etc. all 90 of my phals send out double spikes, and 3-4 new leaves per year.

Love Albert 🐈 . Warmth & humidity bring out fragrance, also in the morning. Pronounce coerulea with a k sound. Last, not peasant orchids. I’m offended. Check out Krull-Smith or Big Leaf, there are very fine phals that sell for hundreds of dollars. Nothing else like a Phal Sogo Yukidian.
