Pendragon- over the top displays, esp the flashy strobe-y kind, make me feel frazzled and stressed, not peaceful. I feel bad for the neighbors of these people that go all-out. It must be overbearing at times if the displays are loud in addition to being flashy.

My wife and I found a house with incredible lights, a train and a ski lift quite by accident about 10 years ago in Boulder City, Nevada. We used to pass through there and stay overnight when driving from eastern California to the Phoenix, AZ area at Christmas. I spoke to the homeowner and he said he started each year about October 1st and didn't have everything down until about mid March. I live in snow country, with an average of 208" per year so I lose all my outdoor Christmas lights about every 5 years when snow and icicles freeze the lights so they can't be taken down. The ice then moves and breaks up the strings of lights. I have a north facing roof and that makes it harder. Some people with south facing roofs have less of a problem, but they lose stuff from time to time. We found a better route to Phoenix a few years later after trying every possible combination and don't go that way anymore. I wonder if this Boulder City homeowner is still decorating his house so well.

Green Giant kids in Africa would probably appreciate all the help they can get when they’ve experienced genocide and massive food shortages. Christmas lights are such a first world luxury. People spend $10,000 to hire a company to put Christmas lights on their mansions and wow...you know how far $10,000 goes in the villas of third world countries in South America? I’ve been there and seen it first hand and it would be nice if we as humans could try a little harder to see the true meaning of Christmas and try to help each other out instead of wasting money on stupid shit like Christmas lights. I went to the end because they were boring and I wanted to see it done. My expectation for a two time winner was deflated! Really? That was the champion? Way too busy and chaotic. Makes you dizzy! No flow. Someone threw up all their lights on their house. Darn, really disappointed, I love Christmas decorations. This really sucked. Sorry, for sounding so mean.
