Thank you Martin, for the compliment. You can see I don't spend a lot of money on sandpaper and paint huh. Not that I don't want to, it's the lack of time to do all the things a fellow wants to do. I am glad you found a bit of enjoyment in my own personal torment LOLOL !!!

Man I loved this video! I am right there with you. Tractors or tools a man never has enough. I just drool at the tractors in the background. Id love to walk through checking them out. Its much better talking to a man that loves his tractors than someone who just paints and parks them. As you know, working them is best, sitting is bad for anything. looking forward to the next one

Thank you Bill for the comment sir. But I have to admit that there are some of them sitting around a bit too long though. I tend to concentrate more on the mechanical end other than the cosmetic end and they really put to work as often as can be. One of these days, I'll make one a bit prettier.

Wendell, your Fordson just needs a little TLC. I've run my 8N with a quart gas tank off a lawnmower while I was working on the hood and engine at the same time. A 2x4 bolted on for a seat and a couple rims will have you plowing in no time. I would have all three challenge tractors in one picture. All I have is the 8N unless you count the little 10 hp lawnmower. Nice string of tractors you have there. I know you have close to 10 times that many waiting for inspiration. You will be lugging around your batteries come spring getting all of them together for one BIG picture. 😆

A little city called Palatka Florida where my dad lived some 45 miles south of me has hundreds of old tractors. It is after all farm land and the owner of all these tractors has made a museum out of them all. I would guess that 95% or more will never run again, they are just static displays, but some are from the very early 1900's. Really cool place, we donated my late brother's 1946 John Deere to them, that thing broke a few fingers over the years as it was hand crank only.

@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 4 жыл бұрын
You know Mike we have such little snow here I haven’t had the opportunity to even make a snow removal video. I think I had to grade snow maybe 4 or 5 years ago. But when I do most times I’ve used the old Allis Chalmers Motor Patrol fitted with chains. Before that I’d just use a six foot blade on the 800 Ford. With that I would set it second position from the most angled deepest position and hit it as fast as I could go in third gear to toss the snow as far off the side as possible. I’d start off the shoulder and work my way to center then another round to shift the shifted snow back out from the center outwards. The key to not digging into the gravel is shorten the third link to minimize ‘draft’ of the mulboard. It’ll have more of a tendency to glide over the top of gravel and not dig in as it will with the top link extended. The further it is extended the more the draft is created and the deeper the cutting edge will be drawn into the gravel. I’ve not ran both the front bucket and back blade in the snow. Hope this helped ....??? Lol. Draft is your friend moving dirt or gravel but not so much moving snow.

Thanks so much for your response. Just saw your video on chains forthe tracktor.found some for mine but heard or saw puting chains on front of 4x4 wasn't good for front end?
@tractorman4461
@tractorman4461 4 жыл бұрын
@@mikeadams2339 I personally think its counter intuitive to not put chains on all fours on a tractor equipped with FWA....Front Wheel Assist. (Fancy abbreviation for 4 WD). Chains dramatically increase your traction in slick, wet terrain or muddy hillsides. Chains will even assist in steering in those same situations. The guys that argue the point of your question claim the excess traction causes extra strain on the front end components and possible early wear. My suggestion is not to worry because most of these tractors are overbuilt anyway for their weight class. Especially on the smaller tractors, 50 hp and lower. Another thing to consider....the ratio of the circumferences of wheels from front to back. In an exaggerated scenario, think of taking 24'' rears off and installing 28's in place on a 4wd unit. Think of what that's gonna do to the differentials and parts that are supposed to work together at a specific ratio. Now, think of the change in circumference of putting chains on the rear. Yes, the chained tire now travels further per revolution. Your front tires without chains continue to travel the same distance as before the chains were added to the rear. So in theory, the rear end is forcing the front end to go further per revolution than it wants to....causing the front end to actually slip FORWARD !! But if you add chains to the front, you eliminate that potential from happening and enjoy better traction in all nasty terrain and can even steer and stop better as described above. I think though that the perceived added strain by this scenario is similar to the perceived added wear to the front end with chains scenario. Again Mike, this is all opinion but in a nutshell as long as you're running off road I'd never run without all wheels chained, summer or winter. Actually...LOL...right now I have been running chains ONLY on the front of the little B3030.... but that's another story that has to do with laziness.... Even grading the road, 4 wheel chains make a huge difference in traction, especially when the gravel is boiling over your molboard and the load is pulling the tractor half way sideways. Four wheel chains in steep and or rocky terrain helps minimize tire damage from slashes in the tire treads or sidewalls to a great extent. The chains will grab onto rocks or tree roots and pull you right on over with much less spinning and slippage. Less gouges in the treads make them last a lot longer. That's why I actually prefer an R4 industrial tread over R1 Agricultural tread because there is less area between treads for puncture by sharp stobs and sharp stone. Whoops....off topic a bit. Hope the rambling helps at least a little. It is so hard to get a thought across in print as compared to just talking back and forth. LOL

Actually you'd be surprised. There is a number of these old things I came by pretty cheap. At least 6 or 8 came from trading air conditioner or furnace repairs. One old Oliver 70 was traded even for just one 8' piece of ductwork. Several were just given to me to haul off over the years and a lot of them were $200 or less.
