Thank you very much Mr Larry for this tremendous tip. I will be following your suggestion and passing this information along to my family and friends. Even jus having a photo copy identifies who you are and is a great start in case of an emergency. Cheers.

Thanks you for your kind and thoughtful note. We probably never think our passport will be lost or stolen, but it does happen. Whilst I've never encountered it personally, people traveling with me have and because they followed my pre- trip instructions they were able to get a replacement passport and continue their travel schedule. Thanks for tuning into my travel channel, the "Getaway Guru." Please recommend the channel to your friends and family. Safe travels!

Also some countries such as China require tourist visas prior to entry. As an American, I had to apply for a tourist visa prior to entry into that country. Does Columbus Travel help with the visa process?

Hi BJ, thanks for your note. Yes, a China visa is a pain. Currently there are 185 countries around the world that US citizens/passport holders can visit visa-free, or receive visa upon arrival. Unfortunately, China is not one of them. Yes, Columbus Travel will assist you with your visa applications. We use and recommend the services of The Travel Broker, a visa and passport service in Salt Lake City. Their telephone number is 801-266-6464, and ask for Marni. Tell her Larry Gelwix referred you to her. (No, I don't get any commission. Marni is a friend and neighbor and I know she will take extra good care of you if she knows I know you and refer you.)
