Imagine coming to a Librarian video and suddnely he goes "Hello everyone, and welcome to Killswitch", as if he just found the game, the real deal, and acted like it was just.. a normal, well known odd game

All three of these give the vibe of authors who are passionate about video games, and wish they could make one, but either lacked the means or the knowledge to do so. I love that they were able to find an audience for the stories they wanted to tell through writing.

A thing I love about Killswitch is that it basically had a secret ARG part that was many no know about, coming from it's origin in a "InvisibleGames" site.

Thanks for covering some of these classics, Librarian! One thing though - for Killswitch, I don't remember that last bit involving the infrasound. I pretty clearly remember a shorter, different ending. It would fascinate me to learn that this creepypasta has been the subject of editing over the years.

It coudl be that Librarian read the full version from the book the story originated from

@@MarcyTheKindaCoolWizard I think. That the story did not originate from the book I think it was online first and then the author revealed herself and added it to her book which is a collection of stories she’s written

Oh hey, I remember these first two! Killswitch always stuck with me for whatever reason. There’s something forlorn yet… oddly hopeful about it? The ending wasn’t in the versions I remember. Either way, I genuinely adore both the story, and the game within it.

The third story is definitely messed up because, going out of your way to kill a being that while scary looking, is benign mostly, by bullying it in a way all to real? Might as well go ahead and drive an actual person to suicide. I reckoned the Japanese sense of brutalism and almost cynical direction (you can find any media to support the reckoned statement) but really? Make the player responsible and glamorized for driving one to suicide? … Pardon if my rant is out of left field but it really is upsetting (and to me infuriating) how the story plays out. Good job for the author, commendable for a powerful work despite its relatively simple and descriptive story.

I always interpreted it as the purchaser being crestfallen that he may have the last copy of this game in existence, yet he is unable to complete the game as Ghast, and he is contemplating whether to play the game as Porta just to see the ending for himself. Now, the older and more knowledgeable me wonders why he wouldn’t do a tool assisted run. Of course, another interpretation is that he DID beat the game as Ghast, and the game didn’t auto-delete, and he’s left heartbroken at what he’d witnessed. But I prefer my other interpretation, despite its holes.
@onicore7 ай бұрын
@@TheDolphinTuna Aah, ok I like your interpretation! My mind went more towards the supernatural, where the player didn't even start the game but got visions of what was going to happen and such (which just felt wrong). I like the idea of Porta's ending being the death ending (in which the game auto deletes) and Ghast's being the repeat/rebirth ending
@generatoralignmentdevalue7 ай бұрын
The ending read here is different from what I and some other commenters remember reading online. In the version I know, there is no infrasound or ripping out of electronics. The buyer gets what is probably the last remaining copy of his beloved game, and the only footage that ever comes out of it is a short clip of him staring at the character selection screen, weeping. I felt it was implied that he needed to know what happens in Ghast's route, but couldn't bear deleting the last known copy in order to find out. Playing the game and not playing it were equally awful. Committing to a Ghast also means accepting he will never play as Porto again, may never even see her again. It makes a lot more sense than the ending in this video and fits the interpretation in the comment above. I'm curious where Chris found this version.
