Hey Michelle! Super timing on this topic! I have just finished my first project; a simple woven scarf with a silhouette of my poodle on one end and her name on the other (black scarf, grey dog; inspired by your wonderful high contrast pieces!). I had planned to weave the dog and name into the project tapestry style (I loved your comment about rules!). It turned out that the design was too small and intricate and I was having trouble managing the tension and all the ends so i ended up needlepointing the design onto the weave while it was still in the loom. It worked although it is neither weaving nor tapestry! In any case, I am looking forward to my first tapestry project so your comments are right on point! I also looked at the James Koehler interlock technique that Rebecca Mezoff demonstrates. It seems to result in a line that is less sharp than the slit method but a little sharper than the standard interlock. Cheers!

Happy Sunday!to slit or not to slit that is the question! Thx for video!. Do u use a thin linen or silk thread ? I would think a durable longer lasting thread that will hold up over time? And do u sew slit around the warp threads that r side by side in the slit at the back , like between the weft picks? Hope u understand me
@ThreefoldDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Haha, love it! I actually use cotton sewing thread! As you can see by my demonstration, I'm not very exact when I put my needle in ... my main aim is to try to hide the thread - with practice, you find the best way for YOU 😁

wasi.weaver Michelle you always make sense! Also did you embroider over the top in the xray of the spine and head?
@ThreefoldDesigns Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, I tend to use embroidery when I feel that it adds to the tapestry :)

Do you sew slits from the front or back?
@ThreefoldDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Hey Brenda, I always sew them from the front - same as I weave from the front 😉
