This is a must have for me. Always wanted a definitive version of bayverse prime. Don’t get me wrong, Black apple’s optimus pime is an amazing figure that balances a nice vehicle mode with an excellent robot mode, but this one nails the on screen appearance of the robot mode. The original 3A premium prime was cool, but the joints were flimsy in some areas and too tight in others. Not to mention, there are a few issues with its proportions compared to the on screen appearance. The massive size of that figure also meant that any posing was going to be a problem. This new dlx one though, is something special.

I love this figure, butI will say that Threezero needs to work on their quality control. I ordered my figure through sideshow collectibles and has to have it swapped out twice. The first one came in a box that was cracked and was missing the alternate mouth, and the second one the round piece that’s connected to the ankle was broken. I know that neither of these were used or returned figures because they were both sealed when they arrived at my house. I think they just need to take better care in making sure everything is up to quality.

As brutal as it sounds, I'm not gonna buy a transformable Optimus until he looks almost like this. Black Apple came really close, and is without a doubt a masterpiece. However the proportions just aren't quite right, the head is too small and the chest has this weird exploded and protruding quality to it. It seems like the boom of third party figures has finally peaked, with companies like Weijang getting shut down. It's a shame, because the last 5 years really has taken transformable toys to a completely new level. It's pretty insane to compare the shit that people are creating now, in comparison to the best toys of the 2009 line (leader Optimus) which was only a decade ago. Imagine what the standard will be in another 10 years. I'll get my perfect bayverse Optimus, one day...
