Sifting and Winnowing grains on a small scale; this is Hard Red Winter Wheat. There aren't many efficient methods of growing and harvesting wheat on a small scale until your fields are large enough to justify a seed drill and plot combine, so most of us have to make do with the most efficient methods we can manage with our existing (or inexpensive) tools. I use my old hammermill shredder because i had it. I also had the plastic crates and bins I use for sifting.
CUTTING WHEAT AND RYE GRAIN
I also had an old brushcutter I didn't use, and made a grain cradle for it, which works great, much better than using my large bread knife to cut wheat, which was my first method. See cutting wheat with the brushcutter here:

I really enjoyed that video. It was a very good and concise overview of getting the wheat separated from the waste. I’ve been studying how Heavenly Father and the Adversary are both at work trying to sift out who serves who. I was surprised by how rigorous the grain was sifted. No mistakes, nothing slips by.

Could you tell me, what kind of sifter do I need to sift bulk wheat grain . To prevent pebbles from going into my home use grain mill? Any advice you could offer would be appreciated! Thank. You!
@RonNehrig
@RonNehrig 5 ай бұрын
I make all of my own bread, and use only grain I have milled in a Womdermill, so I regularly mill many kinds of wheat; white, red, Khorasan, Durum, Spelt, as well as Oats and Corn, some I grew, some I didn't. I've never seen pebbles in any of it, so sifting them out has not been a concern for me. I don't know what size pebbles you are concerned with, but my first thought to sift that finely would be 1/8" Hardware cloth (which is actually heavy steel screen), I think that would let wheat through; it is stiff enough that you could probably cut a square and bend the edges up into a shallow box, though you would probably want to tape the edges with a thick tape like Gorilla tape to prevent getting cut on it, or maybe fasten a piece to the bottom of cardboard box with the bottom cut out.

Thanks but what about a nice Austrian scythe?! Did you make bread? I like the pace and sort of suburbanness of it. Audley, West Wales.
@RonNehrig
@RonNehrig 8 жыл бұрын
+Audley Nick Yes I make many kinds of bread, always multiple grains. I grow the Hard Red Winter Wheat, Rye, and Corn, and use those in most of my breads together with Hard White Spring Wheat, Khorasan, Oats, Barley, and many others in small amounts. I mill with a Wondermill, a great machine. I didn't have an Austrian Scythe (which would need a grain catcher to be most effective), otherwise I might have used it, but I did have the brush cutter that was fairly easy to adapt (after some messing about) so that's what I used,, and it works quite well.

This is what was done every Shavuot (Pentecost), which was the time of the wheat harvest. God used this time to institute a feast in remembrance of the same day Israel received the Law from God on Mt. Sinai. That very same day, Israel broke the blood covenant, requiring the offending party to die. Though 3000 died that day, Moses pled with the almighty for mercy. God agrees to show mercy by sending His son, Yeshua/Jesus to be a sacrificial offering on behalf of the offending party (Israel). In the day the Blood covenant was broken by man by transgressing Yehovah’s Law, 3000 people died as a result. But when the man, Messiah Yeshua died for the sins of that broken covenant, on the very next Shavuot/Pentecost (Feast of weeks), 3000 souls were added onto the Church. (Acts chapter 2). By one man, death came upon the world. But by that man, Yeshua, life came upon the world. And so we see God actively at work, undoing the death and destruction done to his creation by sin and disobedience. What sinners have destroyed, God has redeemed back unto Himself. And as the Farmer harvests, threshes, sifts, and winnows the wheat in order to gather together his wheat, so our Father in heaven separates us into Messiah, and sifts us (tests our hearts), winnows us (separates us from sinners), and gathers us into His store house (His Kingdom under Messiah when He returns and rules forever and ever), to be one with us (complete union with God). Praise be to YeHoVaH, the God and Father of our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah. Who gave himself a ransom for us, to redeem us from the curse of judgement, and to separate us unto himself to be a holy people; obeying the commandments of God, and separated unto Good works!!!

If you're serious, yes, I've seen that done, but it would require at least two people and fine enough cloth that the wheat and chaff wouldn't stick to it.
