Z Nation....didn't see that coming 😮 But if you brought back the series (I'd Love to see that!) then an episode or 2 where a small town gets infected and has to be cleared out by a ground op would do it. Love to see it as a season 1 finale, with the 1st episode of the next season be going in

To be fair, she went to the church to contact the bodyguard that was there, she also expected to find a large number of people there. She had no idea that the Threshold bodyguard would attack her. And since she was at the home of that crewmen with an injured guy and no one else, she thought she was going from a not quite safe situation to a MORE safe situation.

You don´t say. That is mostly the case in TV series. If you are lucky you can see in TV series a handfull of frame shots of the authentic environment, rest is done somewhere else or in a studio. Same with me. The second episode of THE LIBRARIAN, was supposedly the NEW GLYPTOTEK in MUNICH. Now I am from there and I can tell you that was neither the real Museum nor the city of Munich.Just as an example how often this is done.

Well put; Science is something else as Science Fiction, That are two different pairs of shoes. We are talking modern Fairy Tales here. Just the terms are exchanged; the Knight became the Soldier or Agent together with a side kick, the Mage became the (often mad) Scientist and the Devils, Demons and Dragons are represented by the diverse Aliens or mad dictators with illusions of grand sceams. Shure there are approaches to a more sophisticated, science based literature. Authors like Asimov always pushed but fact is most of us love the good old Space Opera like in Threshold or in STAR WARS. But not everyone seems to get it. Those folks run around telling eveeryone they are watching SciFi a totaly useless and meaningless expression. It just shows those people don´t understand what they are talking about.

The problem with so many of these 13 episode contracts is that they start very creatively, but don't know where they're going to go. The writers didn't create an ending, nor anywhere for the series to go in a 2nd season. Creative people still need a paycheck, so the best writers just go to another project when their 13 episode contract ends.

This show is diabolically bad. Cheesy dialogue, dubious acting, terrible effects, and every scene seems lifeless. They supposed to be keeping the knowledge of aliens yet they casually chat in front of guards and about the alien signal. Also, there are virtually no extras in most scenes. They also walk the same hallways in every episode. The headquarters in Washington is devoid of all people, no life outside the windows, not even trees or sky moving. I think they spent no more than $50 on episode locations. I'm not surprised this got cancelled after one season. Only reason I got this far is because of the lead actress and Peter Dinklage in one of his earlier roles before Game of Thrones. Fringe, made a few years after this nonsense, was Soooo much better.

... not sure I entirely agree. She plays this character much like she played her character in the first "Night At The Museum". It's difficult to watch a story of a woman working in a "secret" federal agency and not see shades of past successful T.V. shows. Then again, I may be overlooking it because I really enjoy watching Ms. Gugino bounce around in front of the camera.
@animistchannel29835 жыл бұрын
@@3DPDK Not sure you agree it turned into discount x-files? (I'd pretty much fight you on that one!) or not sure she had reverted to channeling Dana Scully by this point? (I'll take your word for it that she had done it before in her career. First I remember seeing of her here.) I never said I didn't like it, either way, but the writers clearly came to the series without enough original material/ideas to distinguish themselves as they had in the first couple episodes. 8 shows in and it was in a holding pattern already, scriptwise and artistically. Brent Spiner seemed to have given up and just sounded more and more like Data each time. Dinklage was basically directing himself in his own version of each scene, regardless of who or what the heck was going on around him (which turned out awesome sometimes, 'cause he's him), and the head guy just kept going bigger and bigger with the acting to fill in the gaps, etc. It just seemed like the ones who needed the job were trying really way too hard to make scenes work, to cover, and the ones who didn't need so much it were doing whatever they felt like or kinda phoning it in. The first couple episodes were really tight and dynamic and complexly dialogued, and by this one it was kinda schlocky. Like I said, just observing. I liked it, as TV goes, but we know how TV goes. They have a great idea and a huge pilot budget and a 96 minute script that got pored over so carefully for months, maybe somebody's pet idea for years. Then a certain number of episodes later, the writer's creative well is drying up, the studio is giving them pennies to peanuts for budget, and everyone is exhausted from working 18 hours a day. That's the beast. Still, I'd watch more, even as it was going, because it still had some great moments in each episode. If they had 2 full seasons to work out the kinks, they might have found a great groove and some killer storylines. Most sci-fi shows need that. Unfortunately, we'll never know. All I can think after that is... "At least it wasn't as tragic as Firefly getting cancelled."
@3DPDK5 жыл бұрын
@@animistchannel2983 I don't see Gillian Anderson's influences in Carla Gugino's acting. It may be there but as you say, maybe she took on Anderson's persona in earlier rolls. I don't doubt the possibility that the producers targeted X-Files as the model for this series. Truthfully, Gugino reminds me a LOT of a girl I once knew and it's difficult for me to watch her in any roll without comparing her to my memories rather than any particular acting style. That being said, I do agree that this series lost it's creative momentum after the third or forth episode. The premise of a "crisis management team" handling a first contact situation, which has a lot of potential for story variation, got lost in the CSI, FBI, etc type investigating and forensics. The ark of the series gets muddled with every episode, and it just becomes a different way to handle the same problem over and over. As for Brent Spiner; he will never outlive Data. Any roll I've seen him play is just Data acting in a movie or TV roll. Spiner put too much of himself into Data to see him as any other character. I think that's a problem many TV actors face. My biggest problem with ANY modern science fiction movie or TV series is how little the writers actually know about science. This series is no different being filled with so much KZbin sudo-science that it just become Saturday morning cartoons for me.
