I wish I could write stuff like thrice. In the six months I've been listening to them they've gone from a band that I know of to my favorite.

It shows true musicianship to be able to strip down a song like this and still have it resonate so strongly with the audience. These guys are by far my favourite band - thrice

I wish I could get all my music like this, not processed, not tampered with to try and make sound better, but raw, real, and filled with this much emotion.

If anyone has any doubts about this song, read the liner notes on the album. Dustin cites a book "The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions And Distortions" as something that opened his eyes to the events of the day in an interview as well.

i believe it is because they are humbled by the acceptance. and most artists with any kind of talent lack some kind of social skills. its a typical trait.

I was talking about "The Earth Will Shake" on its KZbin page with a guy who insisted it was about some event that happened in the new scripture. I told him almost exactly what you said, it might be their inspiration, but the song can be interpreted in many ways. Some interpretations with more general meaning that anyone can relate to in their own lives. Nice to agree with someone on KZbin for a change :)

teppi is a christian i go to the same church as him i play guitar in the mars hill church and have played with dustin and teppi.... they may claim a christian band but with there lyrics and meaning behind most of the songs yes they are. any band using bible quotes in lyrics in multiple some is christian.... and dont say if u are a true fan, ive been a fan since the first impressions album, way back at chain reaction where they started before they were famous

@DavidAMIs I can see that. I hadn't heard major/minor until just recently. It's great freaking music, and a great record. It does seem more preachy, and less subliminal about the quotes and verses, but i still can't just see them as a Christian band. I dislike Christian bands too much to ever admit that Thrice could be one, haha.
@mailchrisbailey12 жыл бұрын
I've always thought about these lyrics. Does Dustin believe in a 9/11 conspiracy or does he just mean that we knew but did nothing? Interesting lyrics.

why? because it's addictive and goes well with food?
@BDKMusick13 жыл бұрын
@derekmyers7 You can be a Christian, and incorporate the feelings and inspiration you get from your beliefs, and not be a Christian band. A Christian band intends to show listeners the glory and grace of God. Their primary message is to spread their faith. Thrice does not intend to convert people, nor do they intend to spread Christian beliefs. They are artists. They use everything around them to create great music. It's the life lesson, not the belief behind it, that they preach.

Is it so important to label music. Is it so important to give music a name-tag. I think the only reason music should be name-tagged is to make it easier to reference, instead of everyone saying "that song" or "that band". Stop trying to label music beyond a point of reference. Please. You are not helping anyone. Listen to music. You don't need to call Thrice a label like "Christian band" or "Alternative band with Christian themes". Thrice is FINE being just Thrice. Thrice can easily be referenced by the name "Thrice" when you wish you speak about them. You don't need to reference Thrice as "that christian band" or "that alternative band with Christian themes". Perhaps you seek to label things because you can not accept them for what they are. Perhaps this stems from your own view of yourself. Do you seek to label yourself? Do you not accept yourself as you truly are?
@ph0kused8 жыл бұрын
Well said, This isn't meant to be a slight to people who buy Christian Rock, but I think it is a good question for debate. (I Feel) That if a mediocre band labels itself "Christian Rock" and signs with a Christian Rock label, they will immediately get followers - not based on quality of music, but based on quality of worship. Some people may call this 'sheep like behavior' but I disagree. Now if you take a band that has GREAT talent, and they sign with a 'normal' religion-neutral label, and they become big - I think that says more.
@chadpeacock20643 жыл бұрын
maybe an unpopular opinon but if Thrice labelled themselves through christianity.. i may not have 'found them'.. and now i am one of the thousands die hards that exist for anything Thrice, with passion.
@derekmyers713 жыл бұрын
@BDKMusick thats definitely not true...thrice is the most christian secular band around.

For your information my friend, about 75 to 80 percent of Thrice lyrics are quoting Scriptures. Specifially Messiah (Jesus a.k.a Yahshua).

@DanteValentine16 he thanks god, Thrice thank to whatever they want. I'm pretty sure Dustin thanks god, because he's all religious and devoted. Not that I believe in God, though. Human's religion should be humanity. Humans should be taught humanity instead of christianity or muslimities.
@derekmyers713 жыл бұрын
@BlackBalverin I won't start arguing with you because I'm very hard nosed and tend to win an argument when debating. However, I will leave you with a link to a video. If you can HONESTLY tell me that Thrice isn't a Christian based secular band, then a) you're delirious or b) you will see that Dustin Kensrue has a true heart for God. "Grow up and start to look behind the image, thrice is much more than a dump 'christian-band"-- that's quite nonsensical; Christian bands can easily be MORE amazing!
@ericscalibur14 жыл бұрын
i hope everyone realizes this song is about 9-11
@BDKMusick14 жыл бұрын
You can quote and incorporate Scripture into your music without being a Christian band. It all has to do with the meaning that they're trying to convey. Thrice isn't a christian band. They probably know more about the bible than most Christians though.
