The California-based quartet, who've also been busy of late making high-profile main stage appearances at the Coachella, Reading & Leeds and Bamboozle festivals, have followed the New Pantheon Award-nominated Vheissu's radical metamorphosis with The Alchemy Index, a four-volume collection spread between two releases comprised of four EPs, each devoted to one of the classical elements in nature-fire, water, earth and air-with each EP sonically and thematically tailored to evoke the atmosphere inherent in its corresponding element. This fall marks the release of the first two volumes of the series-Fire & Water-while Earth & Air are scheduled for a spring debut. For Thrice, it's the realization of a year-long process of writing and recording, which was done primarily in the band's own studio and engineered by guitarist Teppei Teranishi, without the assistance of an outside producer.

Seems like a long time ago but I remember seeing thrice somewhere in 2000/2001 at a $5 show on a college campus with less than 50 people in the crowd. Then again in 2002/2003 i saw them at a sold out glass house for what was supposed to be their last show.

Does anyone know any more songs that are similar to this and black honey? I've found a couple songs like patterns and complex patterns by the human abstract, but i love the eerie tone and great message. Any recommendations?

For Thrice 'eerie tone' songs - the whaler, circles, and maybe even music box. You might also try checking out the band Sparta (one of the two bands that rose from the early ashes of At the Drive In) - Wiretap Scars, Porcelain, and Threes are albums that have what you seek.

I have a feeling based on their lyrics this song is inspired by the events and survivors of the infamous plane crash in the Andes back in the 1970’s.
