I love the way you pair back up collections etc. So thoughtful. Every thrift shop needs a person who's a little bit OCD on staff...

Ooh, that vintage pottery bowl with the brown stripe (next to the haunted figurines) may not be your aesthetic but it sure is $$ in antique stores. It was actually a good buy but not if you don't love it.

The 'original art' was actually mass produced and more than likely the frame was either low grade painted wood or plastic. These were sold from late 60s through the 70s. And after that there was a time when mass produced hand painted art was sold through roaming truckload art shows. They had flashy tv commercials and would be in town for weekend events. One could find pretty art if you looked hard but it was mostly junk in nice frames (these were not inexpensive either). Always check the frames and signatures throughly. Good luck!

Thanks for the information about the art, it's very interesting to learn about the history of older items. It makes sense that these pieces were mass-produced since I see them at almost every thrift store. I'm always looking for a diamond in the rough. 🙂Thanks for watching!

I think the tea pot was 3.99 y the "Y" means yellow tag- and can look like a 9. I have seen this when they write the price down and not use a tag. The colors help them know when it's time for things to go . Go back and look at some of the other written prices..Some have b for blue some have g for green and so on.

I just came across your channel, subbed. I love watching thrifting videos because I live over an hour from a real city lol. Buy a small black light to put on your keychain. The juicer was uranium & so were 3 or 4 other pieces by it, glasses I think. I love your style, the comments are great. The haunted doll😂

You're welcome, I'm glad you are enjoying my videos. ☺ Thanks for watching! I love flea markets because I like seeing what each vendor brings. Prices vary at the fleas I've been to, but most vendors will work with you, which is nice. I don't go to as many tag sales, and I've found that people will call something a "tag sale", but it's really not.

That one brown planter with the insert is specially made for African violets. That a huge one! I would have picked that up along with the brown pottery soup tureen it was only 12.99 and huge! I’m interested to know if that’s common in your area to have goodwill hand write prices on items? I’ve never seen that in my area…does it wash off easily??
@MegantheWild
@MegantheWild Ай бұрын
Oh, that’s cool about the African violets, I didn’t know that. The Salvation Army stores and some of the mom and pop thrifts write the prices directly on the items. Goodwill usually has price stickers. All of the prices washed off, thank goodness!

Why on earth do they write on the items in marker??? Does that wash off?
@MegantheWild
@MegantheWild Ай бұрын
I don’t know why they use markers and not stickers. Maybe they have issues with customers removing/moving stickers? Yes, the writing comes off, and usually without ruining the item.
