I made this top over the weekend from a Thrifted men’s shirt from Goodwill. It turned out so good. With my leftover scraps, I made a matching scrunchie.

LOVE the tip about the ties! I actually bought a pattern to make a Ganni dupe and one thing that kept holding me back was that in all the dupes I've seen the ties create a big gap down the front, which is great when you arent super chesty like I am. For me it would border on indecent LOL

YES! I agree, that’s why I love sewing the ties like this because it basically overlaps and is a game changer👏🏻

This is so so cute! I have a 40" underbust and a 49" full bust. I feel like it would be too boxy if I divide the full bust in half splitting between front and back. 🤔 wouldn't the back be baggy and the front be... smooshed?
@MaddieLynn9 ай бұрын
Because this shirt is already a boxy fit there is a bit of ease already built into the overall fit...you could add a bit extra to the sides of the front though and that might give the front more ease?!

Hi!! It might be that my hook doesn’t have a latch (mine broke off)? So if yours has a latch make sure the bottom jaw is out of the way so the hook can get the fabric…also I just hooked straight through the fabric so that might be the other thing for you to try:) Hope that helped

Hi there Madison, quick question.. I'm making the top (yay!) and wondering how you finished off the bias binding at the ends of the neckline? There's excess in one shot and then it's neatly sewed in in the next shot. Help! Lol :)
@MaddieLynn10 ай бұрын
Great question!! I sewed the bias binding around the neck before I folded the center front edged in and stitched them down so when I folded those center edged in the ends of the bias bound neckline got folded in and stitched down…does that answer your question? Also so excited your making the shirt💕

Super helpful video. I am slightly confused by the measurements for shoulders and bust. My shoulder measurements are 8.25 and bust 8.75. Does that mean my arm whole won’t have as pronounced of a curve as yours?
@MaddieLynn10 ай бұрын
You can honestly draw the arm curve however curved you want! My curve was based on the tshirt I traced but typically I eyeball the arm curve to what looks good. If I were you, I would probably just round up your just measurement to 9.5 or 10 just for ease and to create a curve :) hope that helps

I'm a beginner sewist and will try this! How much longer the the ruffle pieces need to be compared to the bottom of the bodice?

Hi! I have a bigger chest, would you recommend to measure my chest circumference separately and not dividing it in two as you explain? Because my chest will be bigger than my back
@MaddieLynn10 ай бұрын
Yes, that would be a good personal adaptation for this and you’ll want to make sure you try the button up on and make sure it’s a good oversized fit for you before cutting
@MaddieLynn10 ай бұрын
Because the bust measurement and back measurement are directly connected in how I made my top, i think if you still did it the way i showed you would be fine because the back would have ease and it would all be based on your measurements
