I love upcyclying content! Nothing better than reworking an amazing thrifted garment with beautiful details and fabrics. A couple of days ago I mended a free shirt and just love it. Your shirt came out so cute. I have a large mens shirt and am mulling over ideas of how to rework it and make it cropped. Tie those serger knots well..........I hear you on the rethreading. As for the fast sewing.........it is so much better to do each and every step slowly, carefully and do handwork when you need to. I add couture details to the inside of my stuff so that things will really last and look beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.............so worth the effort.

That turned out so stylish. I enjoyed all the choices you made. I am of two minds about refashioning videos, because some creators really are not mindful of plus size thrift shoppers when choosing pieces to "upcycle"; but when it's making use of an otherwise flawed piece (like the cuffs on this shirt being stained so not wearable as is) it's a lot of fun!

Loved it! Yes to more refashioned clothing. I have 9 of my dad's old shirts and would love to make some form of patchwork dress using the button/holes placket so any helpful ideas/videos would be great !

Gorgeous! The colour is really beautiful, and putting on the lace trim was the right call 👌The elasticated "cuffs" look super cute! I've flipped a few men's shirts before, but for some reason I cannot bring myself to leave them buttoning up the "wrong" way 😟 So I've always unpicked the button plackets and sewn the two halves together to create a centre seam (or used the shirt front for the back, if that makes sense) instead. It makes the process much more time-consuming, but men's shirts are such good quality cotton, come in such gorgeous pinstripes/plaids, and can be picked up for peanuts in charity shops, so I think it's worth the effort.

Ah glad you liked the final result! Totally feel you on this, I leave this buttoned up as much as possible when I get changed because the buttons are so annoying that way round 😂 I may have to take your route and alter that!!

I am so happy with my overlocker, it was a gift and especially picked out for how easy it is to thread 😅

Really enjoyed this! I have one of my husband’s shirts put to one side in my sewing room - just can’t decide what to do but want to use the buttons and buttonholes as my machine (or is it me?!) doesn’t do buttonholes very well… more like this please! ❤

Thank you 🥰 it's M8358 a vintage Laura Ashley pattern, one of my absolute favourites! The fabric was from Roy's Material world at the stitch festival last year, it's a viscose mix so drapes really well with the pattern ☺️ I'm going to make another version of this dress soon I love it so much x

What overlocker do you have ? Do you also own a cover stitch machine ? Is it worth getting both ?
