You almost gave me a heart attack with the dark wax on the decoupage paper, but it came out so cute! Scared me too! You did pick the perfect color to paint the frame on that adorable print. Yay you!

Love your projects. A couple of questions: 1. How do you keep your decoupage paper from wrinkling when you apply it to a piece? 2. What do you use to clean your wax brushes? 3. How do you decide what to price your items for resellling?

I'm glad you liked the projects!! In answer to your questions: 1. For fiber papers I iron them first to make sure they don't have any wrinkles - and honestly they are so thick that wrinkles really aren't an issue while applying them. For regular decoupage paper (like Roycycled), I spritz the paper with water before I apply it, and I make sure to work in sections - laying down and even coat of the patina, applying the paper, smoothing out the paper with my brush as I apply the top coat of patina, and then moving on the the next section . . . if that makes sense. :) 2. I use mineral spirits to clean my wax brushes. I actually store my brushes in about a half inch of mineral spirits. 3. I hate pricing. I use google lens a lot to help, and I research things online to see what similar items sell for. There is no exact science honestly. :)

RE your choice of green paint....is a ....big deal at this point in time.....great choice! Giving a light background to welcome the decoupage paper to hang out with the piece is always the right thing to do

Oh I thought the shelves looked good w just the green paint and the white paint! A little distress and you gave that piece a new life! After the decoupage I thought, ok. But the dark wax and it looked old dirty and grungy. At that point you could have left it the original way without cleaning it and it would have looked the same-down someone’s basement for the last 50 years. I loved the crinoline frame though! You have a nice touch…the table was just a miss for me today. ❤

Rachel, oh my gosh the little candle holder turned out really nice. My heart about stopped when the picture just about fell out of your hands, good catch gal!! You must have gotten a standing ovation from your faithful viewers on that catch. I know I was clapping for your snag. The major leagues need to sign you up for catches like that. LOL The cabinet turned out outstanding. When you put the dark wax on the paper and stood back, I was stunned (probably like you were) and thought you were going to have to sand off the paper and start again. Nice come back on that, it turned out just beautifully, Another standing ovation was heard around the states as people viewed that. hehe Don't know if leaving the wood tone behind the paper would have given you the same effect or not, as I haven't ever worked with the heavier paper. Just seems like it would have been too dark. See, you found the correct path by a happy accident. Hope you and your husband have a wonderful New Years! See you on Tue my friend.

I tell you - I have always been pretty proud of my reflexes, and they definitely saved me in that instant!! :) My heart definitely skipped a beat (or two), though!! And I was SO nervous about using the dark wax over the paper - I have done it with the Roycycled papers, but hers aren't as fibrous as these - and yeah, for a second I thought for sure I had ruined it! haha - thank goodness for the magic of clear wax!!! I am so pleased with the result, though. For me it was the perfect solution for toning down the too bright white that it was before. And I love the mix of the colors in the paper - it's so happy! :) Anyway, thanks for your thoughtful comment as always, and I hope you have a wonderful New Year!! :)

Project #1 went from brown ... to brown. But so much better! Project #2 is my favorite! It would look great in our house. We painted our walls the sort of rusty brown color of the matte and I absolutely love it. (Our last house was very colorful, so this was a big change for us.) Project #3 is my favorite shade of DIY paint.

The shelf turned out beautifully. Updating an antique really brings it around to a very special piece. Glad you decided to paint before papering, gives it a very crisp look. Also, I use big nail file to trim off the excess edges.

Just found your channel. This was so fun to watch. Just subscribed! I had seen a technique recently where the excess decoupage paper is burned off with a march instead of sanding. Have you ever tried that? I’m wondering if that would have worked for the green shelf?

Well, welcome! Thanks for subscribing!! :) And yes, I have used the burning technique . . . I actually did it for a video a while back for fall. :) I don't know if it something I would want to try on furniture but it worked wonderfully on my small projects!
