David....you found amazing things. Your brass candle holder is a courting candle holder. In early American days, a perspective suitor would visit. He could stay as long as the candle was in tact above the top part of the holder. If the suitor was liked by the parents, the candle would be raised high; if not, the candle would be lower and would melt to the top of the holder sooner. At that point, out he would go!

David I love your passion for pottery! It's always so much fun and fascinating to see what you find and hear your ideas for upcycling/display. Some Pfaltzgraff (pronounced faults-graph) pieces are collectible but a lot of it is widely available.

I appreciate your feedback on that brand of pottery! I just love pottery pieces, the actual work that goes into making them is fascinating to me. Especially the hand carving line work and shapes! There’s only a matter of time I’m making real authentic pieces myself instead of painting a fake look lol 😂 which is easier and more user friendly for others to achieve the same look for less. Great finds! In love with that wood bird/bowl thing. The Home Interiors picture you got for your mom is lovely. Back in my day(she says in her best old lady voice), we used to have Home Interior parties where tehre was a catalog of pretty things for your home. Not necessarily high end by any means but I actually still have a few pieces from then that I still love. Oh, this was like the 90's. Also, I kind of love the yellow bowl. It's a really cool mid-century modern look to me, don't know if it is, but that's what it reminds me of. 😺

@@DavidOwenCreates Think a tupperware party where the lady who owns the house invites her friends and a Home Interiors hostess comes to display items. They have snacks, chat, and buy stuff that gets delivered later. The hostess has samples and gives different display suggestions. Just a reason to get together really and a fun way to shop before the interwebs.

Just a note regarding book values- if you think you might have something that could be valuable or valuable in the future you need to keep the dust jacket safely somewhere. In book reselling having an original dust jacket can make a huge difference in the value of a book.

You may want to check out the Harris pottery before you paint it - it sells for a lot on Etsy, etc. At one time blue and white was really classic as well.

Love the first vessel. Would keep everything as it is. I prefer a pot with a lid. I expected Pfaltzgraff to be German or Austrian, turns out it's an American! brand. So you can pronounce it as you would normally, you can't butcher it😀
