Thrift Haul - Lots of Cool Finds on Our Junk Run This Week!!

The hubby and I hit up a couple of Goodwills, some yard sales, and an estate sale and came home with some really cool finds - including some awesome vintage items and an antique dresser!

Hi! The cake cover is "Princess House" and is worth quite a little with original cake plate. That was a good find. 🌞😉😎

It really is! Apparently it was hand pressed using a special clay made from recycled wood fibers here in the USA! (There's a tag on the bottom, haha).

I love all your treasures! The ship, the chest with the metal and the decanter should be in a vignette. The metal on the chest could be made to look like rust from being buried with treasures. The decanter( just add water & food coloring to look like rum) add some sea shells, a wooden anchor and some brass candle sticks for a masculine vignette!!! Take all the Victorian pics and mod podge them onto cardboard add flowers, lace and ribbons and sell as a lot. The chair, the tall pot and cherub could be a garden vignette!! Can't wait to see what you do!! TFS.😊❤👍

Love the decanter! And that princess house cake plate and cloche is beautiful! I know because I have it!😂 I got it as a hostess gift when I sold princess house, very expensive to buy back then!

I would sell the rabbit frames as is, so cute! Oh I would keep that light up scene too! I got a couple of cardinals on a tree with berries and it is beautiful! Cool plant stand!!

I have always loved the light up Christmas scenes . . . it is definitely tempting to keep it, haha. And we shall see about the rabbit frames - time and energy are always a factor, too. haha

haha - yes, I love that my husband enjoys treasure hunting almost as much as I do. It has become a favorite way that we spend time together. I am honing in on a plan for the stool . . . . hopefully it turns out super cute! And the Goodwill dresser might actually get stripped and refinished - we shall see! *FIRST‼️🤣🥰* *Rachel, the cake plate and cloche are crystal from Princess House. That Set would have been a MINIMUM of $45 - $50 back in the 1980's when Princess House Home Parties were being held. YOU GOT A STEAL❣️ That dome is MOUTH BLOWN by a skilled Craftsman and hand etched by another skilled Craftsman. Because of this, no 2 are exactly alike. 😊* *The metal plant 🪴 chair is charming....that would have come home with me❣️😊* *The antique dresser from Goodwill is STUNNING...I hope you can RESTORE IT so that the lovely wood grain DOESN'T get painted over.*

Wow - thanks for the info! I did end up finding it on Google lens (I usually research stuff before pricing it) and I was shocked!! It was definitely a lucky find!! And I am considering refinishing the dresser. It is rarely my intention when I purchase a piece to refinish it in its entirety, mind you - BUT - this might be the very first exception. We shall see! Not sure what Princess House Crystal is worth nowadays because I haven't researched it, but it's probably something I should do, because I own several pieces and crystal, in general, is valuable even if it's not vintage. 🤔* *As for the dresser...the picture was too briefly shown in your video to see what damage (if any) it has. I always prefer wood furniture in its original finish - or refurbished to its original state, if possible. I love and prefer a beautiful wood grain whenever possible. As the daughter of Antique Dealers, I saw my parents sell restored furniture that seemed FAR TOO FAR GONE returned to its stunning former glory with lots of perseverance and patience. Don't get me wrong; if the ONLY WAY to save a piece from the landfill or the burn pile is paint, so be it. I just hate to see people take the lazy man's way out and paint a gorgeous piece of wood for a quick flip for a few measly dollars, when more time spent would yield a more gorgeous result and a significantly larger profit. 😔 You might watch the Channels: Flipping Drawers, Mayfield Designs, Thomas Johnson or Ross Taylor Woodworks for inspiration. 😊*

I love antique furniture, and there have been times I have actually passed up on purchasing a piece simply because I thought it was beautiful the way that it was. I also greatly dislike it when people take a beautiful piece of wood furniture and slap a coat of box store paint on it and then try to sell it. But I do love the look of painted furniture. I always have. And it's part of what I do, so for me refinishing pieces is normally not the objective. I just thought this particular dresser might be an interesting change of pace, and the prospect of refinishing it intrigues me. Hopefully the grain under all of that dark stain is pretty! I have a feeling I am going to need to invest in some paint stripper, though! :)

If it gets frustrating, take a break (even if it is a few days or a week) and come back with fresh eyes 👀 to give yourself the most inspired ideas for refurbishment. I don't have a problem with painted furniture either; I actually quite like the combination of stained wood with painted accents....but an entire piece that shows off the wood 🪵 grain in its entirety will always have my heart. 💜🤎💜 I wish you success....and yes, stripper will most likely be a very good friend to help you with this project. 😉🤗🥰*

Lol - I have been researching types of strippers . . . who knew there were so many choices! And I love the mix of wood grain and paint, too - I have done several pieces with stained tops and painted bodies because the wood grain was just too pretty to cover! :) Thanks for your kind wishes !! :)
