I'm now being very creative all month long. I guess Menopause shakes things up. Heating me up too. Just very annoying. After bundling up for -20 Celsius weather, turning up the heat when I get into the car. Heading out on the highway for a day of shopping in town, then in an instant, "poof", I'm over heating, rolling down the window, and blasting the air conditioner. Doesn't last long, and the heat can come back on. Then back to creative thinking.

Those clogs were definitely a find! I picked up a pair in Brittany( the French used to wear them too- it’s where the word “sabotage” comes from as the workers used to throw their “sabots” into the machines to prevent them from taking over their jobs.) Anyway, I paid €7 for them, ( about $7.50), and saw a pair on sale back here in Cornwall for £60- $75! Great find!

I have a pair of wooden shoes that I bought when I went to Holland. Father Christmas comes to Holland. In the wooden shoes they put hay and carrots . He always puts a small gift in each one. Since you have more than two children, you might be able to fit several gifts depending on how big the little boxes are. Every Christmas, I put straw in mine and put a gift or money for my godson and his brother.❤

Fruit and nuts were left in shoes. If you got a orange or candy, it was a good year. The shoes look antique. Great haul. I like the plant basket.

Great finds! I think you DO need to eat your words! You have access to better things at your thrift stores than here, I think. Love the lantern, the wooden shoes and the basket. I love the Christmas plate idea. I’m fairly friendless at the moment(not complaining), but I used to make candied cinnamon pecans and put them in mugs for my friends.

The shoe tradition is St. Nicholas, leaving candy in a child's shoe. When I was a kid we put our slippers outside our bedroom door for candy from St. Nicholas.
