The thing I love most about this video, and also what separates it from other thrifted gift giving videos is the idea to add items to it. So it’s not just the thrifted item but a purpose behind it. A way for the receiver to enjoy it. Amazing!

I've done this many times and combine old and new so I don't look cheap. People don't even know that most things were thrifted. Ive done many baskets with wine glasses and wine, teacups with teas, my favorite was a colander with spaghetti, sauce, checkered napkings and the tool for the spaghetti (my uncle loved it and still talks about it). Love what you did.

I’ve always told my kids, “It’s the thought that counts” and you have done a beautiful job of thinking in your gift giving! I don’t know anyone who would be insulted by receiving one of these pre-loved and ready-for-a-new-home items. If I had to choose, my favorite is the wooden box. What an AMAZING video! Never in a million years would I have thought of all these wonderful idea. And at first I was hesitant to think of giving someone a thrifted gift, but when I saw what you did with them, and how personal they all were, I couldn’t think of anything more wonderful and kind and how honored I would be to receive one of those gifts from a family member or friend. You have some Incredible Talent Katie. I’d love to see more of these videos in the future if possible. There are always Birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day etc, etc that we all need to find gifts for. These videos would be so helpful to me and I’m sure others. A key distinction that you do is to pair your thrifted gift with other items so that someone isn't getting just a nut bowl or platter, but a whole, well thought-out assortment. And you excel in the presentation and wrapping! Beautiful! Btw, I love that wooden box at the end. Jealous!

This is fantastic. I've been thrifting for gifts the past couple of years. My sister just gave my mom a thrifted quilt for her birthday. It probably would cost $500. It's a queen that's all hand stitched with birds. No flaws and she only paid $5.

Not only are you creative in your gifts and wrapping but more importantly, you give items that you know the person is really interested in. Also, I think what many people dislike is when the gift from thrift stores is based on the lowest price , not the persons interests and nothing is added with it, so it looks just like it is, a thrift store item. Learning from you, just a bit of cleaning, creativity, presentation and added items , and a recipients likes, you can still buy a low priced item for your budget and make it beautiful.

Oh Katie! Brilliant ideas ! My fave are the magnet fridge frames. Super. But I would glue the magnets to the corners. Some of those mini frames are made of heavy resins so 1 magnet in the middle might not hold. The old kipsake box is something your son will keep forever. Hi from the UK. I do not have much call for Christmas gifts but I love crafting. I was always very diffident about gifting my homemade items until recently. Unfortunately a very dear friend of mine died after a long illness, I made her a couple of soft toys over the years when she had to go into hospital and never knew how much she appreciated them until I visited her in the local hospice a few days before she died. Along with pictures of her family the only two items she had brought from home were my two little bears. As others have said on here it is the thought that counts, money counts for very little. I love your gifts.

In our house, gifts I found at garage sales and thrift stores through the year came from Mom and Dad. New items came from Santa and Grandma and Grandpa. Since I started this tradition when my oldest was very small, they expected it and it was never weird.

The wooden box was my favorite. I loved the history and it looked so beautiful when it was restored. Differently can work for your son way into adulthood. I love doing cookie plates from the thrift store. I actually have been using upcylcled thrift items to use with my Christmas gifts. I have found some really expensive items to give over the years. I live in Mexico 9 months out of the year. It took me a few years to figure out the 2nd hand store here. But I am up and going now. I get funny looks from the Mexican people when I am in the thrift stores . They are wondering why a gringo would be doing there.
