The glass container with the silver straw in the middle of it that you showed at the beginning of the video when you were in the thrift store is a sugar dispenser. It delivers a measured amount of sugar every time you turn it from right side up to 180° rotation to dispense sugar into coffee cup. ☕️

And you may say, Thank You for your service on my path and leave it behind with happy memories to go with you. Next, your new house plans ... I see your love in them and know you and your family are building a Home not just a house. Wishing love, joy, health, and prosperity to you. And for this video post, nice to see you and Steven working together. You are a wonderful "family" man who generously hands his love to his children who gladly take it with love. Thrift stores are GREAT places... I have bought bed sheets/curtains and used the cloth for making clothes. The big paintings can be painted over. just to buy huge canvases can be expensive from the Art store. When I lived in Abu Dhabi...20 yr ago..there were a LOT of things that were knock offs sold cheaply. You had to look closely to see that the Rolex was called a Kolex..and I got a really pretty Gucci (Gussi) one that worked for about a month.When I opened it...all plastic gears. I like those gates.

Good art in the thrift bins: stephen said “unfortunately”! But fortunately, I have found LOTS of cool art in the thrift bins and purchased it happily, including original still life paintings in gilded frames, and vintage large prints of color photos, professionally framed. Not long ago I found a huge (poster sized) hand-drawn map from 1912 of a small town in Connecticut (I’m in Southern California!) with the business and prominent houses all marked. The paper it was on was so cool, too. It was a bit waterstained. But all the ink was in perfect condition. I carried it around in my car for a month, contemplating if I wanted to put it somewhere in my or my parents’ house, and finally rolled it up real good with a note and shipped it priority to the town’s historical society. It was very interesting to compare to the modern map of the town, and I hope they enjoy it!

Mellissa is right about not wanting spikes on your gates. Around here, deer are constantly getting themselves impaled on them, and it's quite sad.
@judyy38273 жыл бұрын
Weird that this subject has come up today. Yesterday on our Nextdoor app a homeowner posted that she needed help getting off a deer that is impaled on her fence and posted a picture. It was one of those black iron spiked decorative fences. They eventually took down the section of fence, got the deer off, but it’s hind legs were broken. Animal control had to put it down and took it away. So sad. Our property is fenced but with a much more friendly fence. I was outback this morning and two deer jumped the fence with no problem. We have a lot of deer around here. See them every day.

Alex, Sinister means left-handed in Latin and was considered unlucky. When i was in school left handers were taught to use their right hands possibly causing psychological trauma. Yes our desks had ink wells and were well marked with carved graffiti and caked with dried chewing gum underneath .yech, that was the late forties and early fifties. However, Many more lefthanded people are artistic or creative than right handers, so there! Trivia time, by the way, "Trivia" means 3 ways in Latin, the Romans would put up a sign post where three roads converged and people would write messages for people Bring me some bacon or don't forget the newspaper:) Cheers, Rik

My Dad was left-handed and was hit by the teachers to make him write with his right hand. Many years later as an adult and still left-handed, he broke his left hand. He was off work for many weeks with a cast on his broken hand. Well, he taught himself to write (you guessed it), with his right hand! When he had healed he went back to being left-handed!

Cool stuff up for auction, best wishes on a great sale!! My mom went to catholic school and when she would write with her left hand they would smack her hand with a ruler and told her she had to write with her right hand-they believe that the left hand was evil from the devil, so she had to write with her right hand that’s what the nuns told her. So now she is right handed, but my sister, daughter and niece are all left handed.

The reason lefthandedness was discouraged was because a lot of people thought it was a sign of the devil. The Latin word is sinistra which we translate as sinister which is where it comes from. My Mum has 6 grandchildren, 3 of them are left handed, 2 boys and a girl. My sister has the boy and girl as her ex was a leftie, I have 2 boys one of each and the leftie takes after his Dad who has awful handwriting due to not being allowed to use his left hand, the others are right handers as their Mum and Dad are right handers.

Sheesh I thought it only happened to me. I never have figured it out, just unlucky I guess. Or we don't have the salesman gene.
@markpashia70673 жыл бұрын
Alex has explained this many times. If you get fifty percent of retail you are doing good. Unless you can find a collector who is willing to buy direct from you. Any shop needs room to profit from tying up their money and retail space while waiting for the one buyer who will take it off their hands. Sell to a shop and you get wholesale, Sell it to a collector you get retail or close to it. Even a collector wants some room to profit. You really need to understand the game if you are going to be a collector. Imagine all those people who sunk their retirement funds into Beanie Babies when they were hot and bought at the top of the market, then were too stubborn to sell on the way down and now have nearly nothing waiting for them to come back if they ever do. Same thing people do with stocks - Buy high, sell low which is exactly opposite of what the pros do. Timing is everything. Collectables are very often a "fad item" that can go generations before coming back and some never do come back around. Items are only worth what someone will pay for them, not what a book says they are worth.

I was a weird kid (I usually like to say “creative” 😂) and I put a twist on the whole right vs left handed discussion. When I was in second grade, I came up with the brilliant idea that it made sense to use my right hand for writing letters, but use my left hand for writing numbers. My teacher was puzzled as to how I went from the kid with the neatest penmanship to turning in papers with nearly illegible numbers. When she asked and I told her, she stopped and stood perfectly still for a minute. I think she was trying to follow the logic of a 7 year old! I still think I was on to something with the whole right creative brain vs the left analytic brain. 🤷🏼♀️ I was just ahead of my time!
