Study “real” pieces of furniture that are old and see where the actual distressing occurs. Usually if you have a drawer the wear happens around the handle or hardware! They get dinged with age so it’s never even or all over wear. Hope my remarks are not offensive to you. Just suggestions in case you want to be more authentic!

@@Kiki-js7qg Yes, it could be true, but you have to remember is all about the accent colors that you are using among whites, pillows, throw blankets and texture, white is pure, clean and it reminds me of a beach cottage, apartment or a house in California. Remembered having a lot of white and off white while living in California. Thank you for the comment Kiki~

How do you prep the piece before you paint? I painted my kitchen cupboards after scrubbing them with Dawn dish soap and hot water, but in a few months the paint started to peel off in places we frequently touch. I also tried to paint a brand new tv table, but the paint beaded up and wouldn’t stick well. I think maybe the original finish was oil based and I was using acrylic paint for my make over. I sanded it down and primed it and it came out ok.

Area's that will get alot of traffic like the kitchen I sand them down to remove any glossy finish, the use a good primer, two coats sometimes, followed by paint. That is how I have painted my kitchen cabinets after 6 years I have a few places where the paint needs a little touching up.

I like all the projects, and I have a dark cherry bedroom set that I'm thinking of painting we had it over 19 years and I'm tired of the dark wood. I'm thinking white or cream

Lovely make overs. I've recently become addicted to transforming objects and am sneakily painting my rooms white while my husbands works away. It usually takes him weeks to notice and he will say "something looks different" and I tell to make an appointment at the opticians.

White leans towards a cottage look or farm house style. I'm doing my she shed in mostly white. Just painted a piano from the 40s old white with a Annie Sloan paint and wax. Came out great! To each their own. Right?

The finial was the winner. Just watched other women doing this and none of you prepped before painting either by sanding or using Gloss Off. Do you never have problems with paint not adhering properly? I know that will happen with molding trim for sure.

I would stay away from the polyurethane on painted white pieces, as it will turn yellow over time. It is better to use polycrilic.
