It sure is! Being out there for 8 to 9 days at a time for 6 months; I'm bound to learn a ton out there.

I have used one of those UST emergency tarp/mylar blanket as a ground sheet under my tent for cold camping, protected my tent bottom plus helped reflect a little of my body heat up through the tent. could put foot warmers on your socks before going to bed or hand warmers in the foot box of your sleeping bag

When I was on a livestream talking about this overnighter I realized that I have the same UST reflective tarps. That'll definitely be great for a groundcloth under the tent. Thanks for watching!

You could also put candles inside the tent for extra warmth.

I've tried a mini candle lantern before when I was tarp camping three years back. It was nice to have to warm my hands back up. But a bigger candle would help out.

DUDE congrats on the new job, that sounds like a lot of work but a lot of fun as well.. thats some ankle turning terrain you were walking through! I really couldnt hear a lot of what you were saying.. I recently got a nice tarp off amazon for $11 with a reflextive side that works nice as a ground sheet or for over your bedding to trap heat (Azarxis Waterproof Camping Tent Tarp Hammock Rain Fly Footprint Ground Cloth Shelter Sunshade Beach Picnic Blanket Mat for Outdoor Camping Park Lawn) I have those packets of tuna at home and in both vehicles, they make a great snack or a couple can make a meal. I would burn it to get rid of the smell but be sure to dig it out and pack it out. wait..no fire? fire ban? my feet get cold in the summer so I would have had on my thick socks AND the slipper socks and probably stuffed my flannel down around them! ,,,great outting w/great views thanks for taking us along...

Thanks Doc Ink! I've realized that I have this UST Mylar Tarp that I could use for a ground cloth under the tent. Yeah, campfires won't be allowed all the time depending on the area, fire restrictions, or the crew leader. Especially, if we're working in a burn site; there probably won't be a lot of usable fire wood and it would be easy to start a forest fire. I've found some thermal socks that I'm going to be taking out there as my sleeping socks.

Use two bags inside each others. Take spruce needles or leaves as a matt under the tent. Use bigger padding. More layers equal more warmth from body heat.

Thanks for the tips! Bringing a second bag and another pad would definitely help. Thanks for watching!

a couple years ago I found a 3/4 length Therm-O-Rest self inflating sleeping pad in a St Vincent De Paul thrift store for only $3 !!!! it had no storage bag so I use one of my dry bags to pack it in. it works great with a little help from my lungs and it does not leak !!!

Very nice find and for a great price, too! I found mine for $10 without a storage bag. I just used an old camping chair bag that I found in a desert wash.
