Beautiful Norman Rockwell. That painting was part of his Freedom series and is entitled Freedom from Fear. The parents were safely tucking the children into bed as World War II raged on in Europe (depicted in the newspaper heading in the father’ hand). Thank you for always bringing beauty and peace to our world through your videos/blog.

My Dad was a big Norman Rockwell fan . We had a lot of prints/ pictures in our home growing up. I kept 2 of them and hung them in my house after he passed away. Reminds me of him.

Nice thriftes items ...large pitcher nice on his nightstand...love the nostalgia of the horn....we had three of them and we hung them from coffee hooks into the ceiling corners (out a little bit so they hung freely ). I think with just a narrow red bow and a spring of greenery. ..just simple and then the tree in the 4th corner....the boys came in Christmas morning and tried to blow them....they were in their teens....one is now 52 and the other is with Jesus in heaven with his sister ....so the memory of them blowing the horns is special to me now all these years later. Thank you for the memory.

Andrea a tree would be beautiful in the middle of your office with the French doors framing the tree. I would fill the bookcases full of Christmas treasures for you and the boys. I love that Norman Rockwell print. I live in England and a few years ago there was an exhibition of his paintings just outside London. It was the first time they had been outside the US. It was wonderful.

Love the NR print with the horses... but would try and get a mat for it in a more muted tone to blend with the horses. Keeping all the frames gold has a unity to it as a grouping. As for Christmas, you can't help but think about it as its in all the stores ... and Hallmark Christmas movies on TV . I don't usually decorate the living areas til the Thanksgiving dishes are done and the leftovers are in the fridge!

I just might have to look for one too! So many possibilities to use them! I really like the pitcher on the night stand! Maybe you could use your dark gray duvet with another color to deepen your room? Gray/blue or even a taupe? I agree with you about Christmas. Too short so I start before Thanksgiving to. Hi! I was thinking, if she doesn't buy that pitcher, I will! It has that beautiful detail on the handle. You are too young to know this, but there is a story behind your print. I read an interview that Norman Rockwell did where he told the journalist that to him a childs' bed represented the safest place on earth. Clean, soft, warm, and surrounded by the love of their parents. He said he never could reconcile that image with war. So the physical proximity of the fathers newspaper headlines to the sleeping children was intended to highlight that these two things, childhood and war, should not both exist together in this world, and that the fathers expression was to show how it is every parents greatest wish to protect them from it. Hi Andrea! I went try to buy the farlov chairs that you have...but sadly they're discontinued ...however i found a cute little lamp called 'Tarnaby'..it was marked down in the 'as is' section...im in love..it kinda reminds me of the old kerosene lamps...but it plugs in and you can adjust it to flicker...it adds the most lovely low warm light.. in dim corners on a cloudy day...I created a cute vignette with an old book, a little glass vase and a tiny natural birds nest...so cute!! It would be so cute in your fall room..it makes me think of times when reading by candle 🕯 light was a thing...

You mentioned about your bedding being more summer feeling. This may not be you but maybe get a nice sice blanket for the end of the bed that is maroon that is a pretty color to blend with the your bedding and other stuff. that may not be your color but some kind of big blanket for the end of the bed in a darker color might look good. Just a thought.

Absolutely! OUR LR space has changed with furniture coming and furnitre going out, NO place for a tree Gotta figure this out! We h ave been DEEP purging closets etc. The house feels like it can BREATHE a bit better.

I love going thrifting with you Andrea. The pitcher you found is so beautiful on your husbands night stand. And I do love the Norman Rockwell print, I’m just not sure about the frame. I am also excited (and impatient) to start decorating for the Christmas season. We put so much time, effort ( and money) into making our homes beautiful, so I see no problem with starting early. I usually start the first week of November with small touches of simple decor like wreaths , neutral throw pillows and blankets etc. Then I add more “Christmas decor” as time goes by. I will confess something though…I have already started decorating in my bedroom 😆 I found a soft and cozy dark green reversible fleece/white sherpa blanket and a gorgeous faux cedar wreath a few weeks ago and I just couldn’t wait to use them 😝

I start decorating for Christmas November 1st but trees don’t go up until mid to late November. I’ve seen stuff in vintage shops and it inspires me so (and I get that rush of excitement too). Last year I moved into my home in Nov. so it felt so rushed but I’m extra excited this year to enjoy it all

Fall is my favorite season to decorate for, so Christmas can wait! I don't decorate for Christmas till December 1st, but I enjoy the four that it lasts. In January I switch out anything super Crhistmasy and just do winter themed decor so that extends the season for another month.
