I’m the quilter back and commenting. Just so you know, that quilt is a bargain! If I were to make it, it would cost over $100 in materials alone to make it. If your are finding quilts for a few dollars, that’s just crazy! It makes me think that someday my quilts may end up in a thrift shop for next to nothing. I would just hope that someone at sometime will love it and enjoy it. Also, so many of the things that you are looking to buy, I have in my home! I should just start a box for you and go through my house to thin things out and then send them all to you. What you don’t want, you can either donate or sell. I think I have brass candlesticks like you’re looking for. Anyway, I love your videos and can’t wait to see your house!

Also congrats on your new business venture and I look forward to seeing the products you will be endorsing. Happy to hear you are all on the mend. Take care. p.s. - whenever I pass on an item at a thrift store and then go back to purchase it, it’s never there 😢 but then I tell myself it wasn’t meant to be.

NICE haul!!! I respect that you mentioned you being "stingy", as I was watching your video and you passed on the beautiful pj set because you thought $5 was too "high of a price" my mouth dropped!! I too am "frugal" ,so I get it BUT I think about the thrifts that I walk in and shop at. Some are small and have a overhead to pay out to keep the store "running" AND most important are there to help our communities and good causes (abused women, cancer survivors, veterans, animals, etc ..etc.) this to ME out weighs me trying to get "a deal" ;) so thank you for realizing and pointing that out about yourself. I encourage people to support these small community thrifts they are AWESOME!!

Hi Kristen! I came across your channel and saw that you had been thrift shopping in Ozark and Springfield, Mo. I live in Nixa which is 6 miles from each of those towns. I actually volunteered at the charity thrift store (NR on the price tags) that you visited. It benefits The local Family Violence Center. As for your visit to the Red Racks thrift store in Springfield, you are 100% correct! SO OVERPRICED!! The biggest share of their items are price more than you can buy it for new! It actually is supposed to benefit the DAV, Disabled American Veterans…….however???? I didn’t know if you had family in the area or if you were just visiting as this was my first time visiting your channel. Happy thrifting and God bless you and your family!

I Like looking at thrift stores and seeing how much these places charge for their items. I think it's a way to know a certain area without needing to go into that area. You can get a glimpse of the cost of living. I live on Long Island New York and the prices in Missouri and in Omaha are so much better than the ones that we have here. Especially now with inflation and everything, even women wearing Lululemon I know shopping at a thrift stores. No wonder our prices are getting more ridiculous

I make quilts, the material alone cost me 200 to 300 dollars then my work involved. I sell them for $500 to $1500. Depends on the size and the difficulty of the pattern. Also on if I can sew on the machine or if I have to hand sew (applique). Keep in mind the quality of the material and the difficulty of the pattern. That candle holder looks like it has green enamel ware on the base.

Regarding the smell of your house...when our oldest son went away to college and then came back home for a visit, he commented on loving how 'home' smelled! :) We have a 200 year old stone farm house, so there is that old wood smell that I just love! @judybryant38802 жыл бұрын
@@KristenHoffman While I see the need for Goodwill to not give away everything because they do have overhead and have to pay their employees, I'm noticing they are pricing things higher or basic retail at times because of inflation when their goods are given to them. It just seems wrong to me. Many resellers have made their business finding nice things to sell for a profit. It takes a lot of time for them and they should make a profit. I think if you want something and you're willing to pay their price, you should get it. If you only want to resell, you may not be willing to pay their higher price. My Goodwill doesn't have a lot but I found a serving bowl and a soup bowl that matched my moms china that were $2.99. They were taped together and really weren't worth that but only to me because it matched my Mom's china. They were taped and I couldn't see the defect till getting home but it's too late. I wouldn't have paid that for the soup bowl and a badly chipped serving bowl. Love you and your precious family!

What a great haul!! I am TOTALLY the same way when it comes to prices being higher than I want...but still cheaper than full retail!🤣 But, always better to be on the frugal side and then go back if I REALLY need it!😁 Also, on situations with the quilts...to make me justify it more I will average out how much they both cost! So, you only paid like $35 for each of your new quilts!! Sounds better, right??!!! At least it does when I tell my hubby!🤣🤣🤣

...yay,... another rescued quilt! As a quilter - that is quite a deal... blue and white quilts are really hard to find... I can make you one... but it definately would NOT be $69!

Tell me about it. I thrift in Springfield, Branson, Ozark and Nixa all the time and it's always either feast or famine! Red Racks has some really interesting people pricing stuff lol. I almost always leave empty handed because I'm like, I'm not paying that!
