@@jlozano2014 Always tricky, one approach is to wet the whole shoe and hope it dries evenly. It''s one of those issues that are suprisingly easy to amke worse. Location, coour and type of leather will also play a role. You can send a few photos to [e-mail].

Were these in a worse condition than the last pair, I noticed you had real problems putting the shoe tree in these compared to the previous. Great job restoring, the difference was very clearly obvious in teh before/after shots. With the laces, I notice you have them done horizontally, rather than criscross , on display. Is that how they would have been laced in Paris? Intrigued becasue in UK I was taught to always crisscross on the outside, never occurred to me you could do it the way you did! Once again a nice relaxing video, much apprecaited at the end of another very hectic day!

Thanks! I'd say a pretty similar condition, some leathers are more supple than others. I have a few restoration projects coming up that will likely present a greater challenge! The straight lacing is generally considered to be more formal than the criss-cross lacing. I use it on most shoes, except for casual derbies.

@@svendoesrestoration7079 A greater challenge! Looking forwad to see what you do for that! I would never have thought of running laces through a lit gas ring to repair them! Regarding the laces, interesting that they are seen as more formal, though I can see why (straight and more "dress" than "work"). Haven't seen that way much in UK to be honest...but then that could eb I haven't bought shoes from a "high end" store ! Thanks for the info and keep up the good videos!

Thanks, yes usually 2 quick layers of wax polish all around, and then more wax polish for the mirror shine.

In the alcohol to water 1:1 mix are you using household 70% isopropyl?

Isopropyl indeed! 100% or 70%, will add water accordingly. Ratio doesn't need to be accurate, just ballpark it.
