Thrifted Vintage Vanity Makeover Before & After+How I Styled It with Thrift Finds-December 2020

In case anybody is wondering about the mirror height. It's actually at the perfect height for both sitting and standing. When sitting at a chair, I can see my full torso all the way to the top of my head and more in the reflection.👍 It's also at the perfect height and placement for the actual wall. These vanities traditionally had really large mirrors that attached to the bottom of the vanity and flared out. 😊 If I placed this smaller mirror down lower it actually looked really funny. It also would have cut off the top of my head in the reflection when sitting down.

nice job. yes i was thinking the mirror is too high on the wall. the gold accents are very pretty! i'd love to see you sitting at the vanity when it is all done, with a pretty lamp with gold trim, as well as other additional accessories as you noted. *:-)*

I think it just looks high because the vanity is actually about three to four inches lower than the traditional standard height of a modern one. If I were to put it any lower it would be disproportionate to the wall and my head would be cut off when seated. 🤣 I'll definitely have to do a picture sometime soon. 👍 Thank you so much for watching Deb.

The tape trick is brilliant for pre-planning and before moving heavy items. I think a bigger lamp with a gold base will be striking. You might even luck out and find a little thrifted rolling stool that you can do in white and gold that will fit in the kneehole. Great job!

If you add gold wall sconces on both sides of the mirror for the lighting then you can pick another glam art piece for decor on the right side of the vanity. JMO tho... lovely!

Oh my goodness. Girl, I’m just getting a chance to watch this. I’ve been so busy. Girl, you nailed it! It’s absolutely stunning! I love love love it. And I understand on the paint removal. The wood toy box I just bought at a yard sale for $10 for my daughter, she removed all the paint before staining and said it was horrible lol. Great job. I love the matching vintage phone! Also your handles are perfect! Sold an un needed part out of my radio and it paid for almost half my radio. So far, after I subtract the things I sold online and on fb marketplace I got, a coffee table, washing machine, matchbook collection, vintage dehumidifier, floor lamp, antique radio, and a window AC unit....totaling only $70!!!

It turned out beautiful. The paint you chose was so clean like being in a cloud. About a few weeks after I saw your purchase I was at a goodwill and there was a vanity just like yours. I have the same lamp in my kitchen. The bottom of my lamp is open and if yours is you can put gold balls etc in it.
