I was 12 years old and in 7th grade when this video was released. My middle school had what was at the time considered a "big screen" 40-inch TV, which they brought into the cafeteria so that groups of us could watch it along with the "Making of Thriller." It was like a special event. We were all so excited to see it and you could hear a pin drop during the screening.

I don't think anybody or anything has ever topped this video. Others tried with big budgets and concepts that pretended to be movie like, but THRILLER is the gold standard!

When Michael Jackson released a new video, it was a major cultural event. People had to wait for it to air on television, and kids would even skip school to watch the premiere on MTV. At the time, a new MJ video would also premiere on broadcast TV networks during prime time. The level of regular celebrity culture and constant accessibility we have today simply didn't exist back then.

This changed the game. Pre-Thriller, music video production was much simpler. Artists would often just stand in front of a wall and sing. This was the first time a video had real production value. After this video, acts had to try and keep up with how much MJ changed how videos were made.

I was five years old the first time I saw this video and it completely traumatized me. I didn't even get past the opening scene where MJ transforms into the werewolf! 🤣By the time I was six or seven, it was one of my favorite videos and still is to this day. Definitely a Halloween staple. So fun to see your reaction tonight!

Mi amor por MJ comenzó cuando tenía 8 años y unos primos de mi papá tenían un CD de videografía de MJ de sus grandes éxitos,nos lo prestaron y a diario sin mentir,los veía en mi DVD y antes de irme a la escuela siempre veía el video de Thriller y bailaba tal cual la coreografía, hasta a mi mamá le daba risa jaja Todo se terminó hasta que de tantas reproducciones se rayó el CD y ya no los pudimos ver :'( Pero nadie puede negar el impacto que tuvo Thriller en la industria musical hasta estos días
