how do you lock the hero intol place like that?

To lock your hero in place, it's just like locking your units. On an Xbox controller, after selecting your hero with 'X,' press and hold 'X' until you see a white circle marker on the ground. If you're using a keyboard, simply press the left control key, just like 'X' on Xbox. That's it!
