Can’t wait I’m picking up this exact CVO in 2 weeks. Been riding sports bikes for 20 years. I’m so ready for this change. The CVO has been my dream bike for the past 2 years can’t believe I found the exact one I wanted. Best CVO color scheme ever IMO.

19 SGS vivid black, new was half price of a CVO . New S&S 2 into 1 w/ghost pipe, stage 3 cam plate and oil pump with all the things that go with it, 475 cam and custom tune on dyno . Labor and parts less than 3500. Absolute Beast ! Love it

While most of the video was rich in information, I still think it could do some work. The CVO has an adaptive daymaker, those extra lights light up the ditch on the high side when you lean. You briefly touched on the added security features. The key fob locks/unlocks the saddle bags AND the ignition/fork lock knob(if you have the knob in the locked position). There is also a lock and unlock button next to the knob that does the same, but only when the fob is present. The comment about a $40k shifter, can easily confuse people into thinking a special is not designed to accept the heal shifter if purchased separately. Not knowing what parts are metal or plastic, working at a dealership? The 117 is not just more displacement and a breather, it has different cams. The video came across almost like you were trying to down play the upgrades and differences of a CVO.

Just bought the 2022 Street GLIDE ST, W WEEKS AGO got all the quality of a Special plus the 117 from the CVO W/O Paying all the extra $$$ put on the Road Sofa seat. This is the bike I was wondering/waiting on. Just a flick of the wrist and this thing lays right over into a corner. Awesome performance and handling. The Milwaukee 8 /117 is a beast of a motor w/o any extra work! GunshipGray w Bronze Wheels. Just looks like a Stealth fighter sitting still! As well as waiting to disappear down the road

I can understand your frustration with the paint being brought back for 2022. But your bike still has so much more. Color match wheels, 117 engine, all the CVO trim upgrdes (and there are a lot), tank badge that is still the best on CVO in my opinion. Side by side, your bike still kills the new one in the looks category!

I got the Great White, just like the one in the video. I put slip-ons and retained the heat shields, sounds better and still looks stock. No tuning required... Also realize the CVO will always be worth more to the bank. If you get a special and spend $10 grand on it, you still just have a special ... you'll never get that 10 grand back. Great video! 😎👍

I sold my 19 Street Glide Special in 2021 and bought a 18 Road Glide CVO. Besides changing over to Road Glide I wanted to use the CVO as a baseline to make it my own without starting at 42K. Most of us that have bikes that ride them still change them anyways regardless of the starting point. I do think the Specials are more friendly to value and customization. Personally I think if you are going to paint a Special and would be happy with a CVO paint scheme that is available that should be enough to decide. Nice entertaining episode.

I have a 2021 CVO Limited. I replaced a 2004 Ultra with a lot of miles that over the years I easily spent 20K in engine, suspension and design upgrades. And when I went to trade it in…it was just a 2004 Ultra. So I think that is a huge part that everyone misses. The CVO retains all of the value as it came from the factory that way. Upgrading a base or Special bike you loose 100% of the $ you put into it. Now if you want your own custom bike that’s fine…but you are throwing that money away on trade-in or sale. For me I have other Harley’s that I can continue to customize. For this touring bike…she is ready to go as is and looks great!

Good video, I have a CVO but I bought it used so it had everything I wanted, bars, pipes, etc... already done with only 5,000 miles on it so the extra cost was worth it. Otherwise, I would take your recommendation and by the special then customize it to my preferences.

Here’s the thing about the “missing $13,500”, first- Cvo- means from the frame itself from the factory, EVERYTHING Is assembled by the cvo team (only a handful of Harley mechanics) from paint code to the engine placement. Second- Harley throws everything into cvo’s that year has to offer (sound system-boom) rims, all sorts. Third- Every dealer with a performance section/ race section, (ie- Ford, they have the raptor, the Shelby line, etc…).

I have done this both ways. Just bought a RG CVO Limited. If your going to keep the Special stock then that should be your pick. Remember the options you put on the Special have absolutely no resale value. My experience is that I recover more of the investment with the CVO. The limited gave me much more in value that the CVO RG. Twin Cool engine with lowers, Tour Pak ( I make that removeable). better heated seat for long rides to mention a few. To add this later is impossible or major $$$$. Harley has many selections as their are many folks with different tastes. Great review, well done.

I have the 2019 CVO and wouldn’t even consider comparing to the standard streetglide…, the added benefits are so worth the extra dollars! Central locking has been a god send, heated grips are divine, custom seat definitely adds that extra bit of comfort for the long hauls, lowers with the speaker! These are only some of the benefits that caught my eye. In saying that, my hubby’s streetglide special is a beast but the dollars he has put into it he should have just bought a CVO 😂😂😂😂😂

Back in the day the CVO might have been worth it when they had the lowers with the speakers in them. The fact that you get a 117 vs a 114 is comical. Nominal difference. With a CVO you should be getting the 128, nothing less. Back in the day a CVO arrived and basically you should not have to change anything to get an upgrade because it was the top dog. That is not the case anymore. In 2017 when I bought my special they had just moved up from the 103 to the 107, but the CVO was a 114. Since then the special is now a 114 but they have only gone up to a 117 with the CVO. The special is catching up to the CVO with them doing downgrades on the CVO and upgrading the Special at a faster rate.

First, I don’t have enough money for a CVO yet. I’m hoping to be able to afford one when the 120th anniversary comes around. I’ve always said I want one, but I ride too much for it to be my only bike. It would have to be a second bike that I only ride sometimes in perfect weather and not too often.

That CVO headlight looks like the new(I believe in 2020) Daymaker adaptive LED, it’s supposed to light up the top and bottom led bar in turns. They run around around $850……I’m still undecided if it’s worth the extra money vs the regular daymaker.

I've ridden all the Harley headlights in the Street Glides and, like stated, the new light illuminates in turns to light up areas that sorta "go dark" due to the lean and bar turn. Honestly, you notice the difference, but I think it's only a slight difference to an experienced rider. Just my opinion.

I agree with you, I invested my money in a 2014 Street Glide Special. I could not see spending $13,000.00 and finding myself spending more money to make the bike custom to my feel and fix. I have friends who own the CVO’s and strange enough I find them paying more attention to the customization I invested on my bike, without having to spend what they spent on their CVO. Personally I believe for the cost of the CVO’s Harley Davidson should be giving its customers even more for example, auxiliary lights, fog lights and even a chopped tour pack, not to mention whitewall tires for those us us who like to go old school. Great video by the way.

On my street glide special 107 it does what I want, all I did was add a fan assisted oil cooler, full LED lighting with passing lamps, and better seat and I am good. The biggest thing for me is that it runs so I change all three holes twice a season to eliminate wear .

For most of us it is. But doing sales I learned some guys just wanna be able to say they have a bike, some guys just want a cvo bc people know its expensive. So many reasons people get into it. Fortunately guys like you stay true to the best part of motorcycles, the ride!

I got my 2019 street glide special in black! I did my fosgate stage 3 and a 117 stage 3! Bars and a ton of other upgrades! I like doing custom stuff in my own reflection! Cvo is cool! But it’s very cookie cutter!

We would definitely go with the special and the put that 13k I saved into a 131 Stage 4 kit, Legend suspension, after market speakers and amp, seat and other custom touches like lighting from custom dynamics and Creo3d... in the end I would have a custom bike that gas better performance and handling, is more comfortable, and has better sound.

CVO people say that the customizations you do on Special will still keep it a special when you go to sell it. Curious to know if 131 crate motor will retain it’s value better. I would also like to trade my fat boy and get a special plus 131 modification.

IMO, the CVO is not worth the paint job. I took my 2020 Street Glide Special, added an exhaust, Screamin Eagle Stage III, and a $5,000 stereo, which is far superior to the Rockford Fosgate Harley uses, and I'm still below the $13,000 difference. Get a Special and customize it.

Yeah it's got all the extra trim and the nicer collection on grips, floor boards etc but for a guy like you who doesn't care about all that, DEFINITELY do what you do. You spend less money and end up with exactly what YOU want. Also a good way to not every run into your exact bike while out riding. haha

after reading quite a few of these comments, it seems like CVO owners are just trying to justify their purchase with little to no evidence to back up their decision. I mean cmon, $13-15K more for comfort items. I mean can we call them what they really are, comfort items. Its not like you are getting just an absolutely absurd more amount of bike with the CVO. IMO the CVO is for the guy that doesnt like accessorizing his bike himself, he wants all the accessories at the harley markup so he doesnt have to do it himself.

Monkey butt is real. I use heat resistant tape on my seat also. Just not all the way to the edge so it not visible when on the bike.

I was with you, until you claimed you can hear your speakers at triple digit speeds. I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU, there. Harley is waaaaay behind on their entertainment centers.

@@throttleblip9854 Indian, Honda and BMW. All of which come with Apple play, intercoms and satellite already included. Why does Harley charge extra to activate all of that? Why can’t I link any Bluetooth communications I want to it. Harley is greedy. Harley sets their EQ one way for the showroom, and another for while it’s running. That’s why you need a DSP unit, while running amps. To flatten Harley’s horribly distorted sound. If you can hear your STOCK speakers, at triple digit speeds, then you’re running stock exhaust then too. Not only that, but you claim all that, with the completely useless stock windshield. Seriously, everything else you said, was pretty accurate. Compare your stereo with one of my videos. You can actually hear mine. And my stuff is mediocre. Even the amp that Rockford Fosgate supplied for the CVO, is over priced, and under powered. I’d get a tm400x4ad amp over that thing, in a second. Please don’t take this personally. Your videos are actually pretty good. But, please don’t embellish. Your stock output is 25watts. And that’s not RMS. My Rockford Fosgate amp is 112.5 watts rms x 4

I would say you don’t need a mint to enjoy riding a motorcycle. Oberly expensive YES THEY ARE, touring models should either have all the bells and whistles or they don’t. If you go buy a Goldwing it’s a upfront price for everything. Harley Davidson should be trying to find a way to cool them hot butt motors down, if HD can produce a bike that rides like a Goldwing I am very interested. Harley Davidson is still using old 1950’s/1960’s technology like that huge primary chain rotating in oil and a loud shifting clunk even in 2021 give me a break.

The CVO ain’t worth it. Every mod on there can be had for less and more tailored to the rider. I’m a audio guy. So I’d be pissing my money away on a CVO since the sound isn’t powerful enough.

If we're me. I would go with the Street Glide Special. I can take the 13,000 grand and add a few things and then take the rest of the money and buy me a good used vehicle. 40 grand for a motorcycle is a shit load of money. That's a down payment on a good home. Hey ! If you can spend the money. God bless you. I am really just a plain simple guy. Don't need the fancy to make me feel good. Just saying for me.

To me, the CVO is just gaudy. Way too much over the top. I bought a standard for $18k less, spent $4k in mods that I would have spent even if I’d gone with the special, and I have what I want. The only thing the special or the CVO comes with that my standard doesn’t, that I want, is the led headlight.

Honestly neither are worth the price new, buy used and save a ton of money. I have an 18 CVO Street Glide. Hindsight should have just added heated grips, a better amp and speakers to my Street Glide standard and save myself a wheelbarrow full of money.
