We did from Mouth of Wilson to Fayetteville a few years ago. 👌🙌🏼. Buck dam portage🫠

Really enjoyed the video. I've done dozens and dozens of kayak and raft trips between Hinton and Fayette Station. And I even worked a year at Bluestone State Park. It was great to see the areas upstream that I hadn't seen before.

I was just thinking about this very trip last night in my fly fishing raft. Now to figure out the portages.
@BlakePaddlesАй бұрын
The portages would be a challenge with the raft. I know people have done it!

I only ran the New 1 time. It was under a full moon on acid. I was an upper Gauley guide from Colorado. They called us "Coolaid".

Prince to Thurmond was my very first white water trip. Silo was scary.

Really enjoyed this. I spent 10 years guiding on the New back in the 80s and 90s. Get out and enjoy it as much as you can. Did you ever go back and run the rest of it?
@BlakePaddlesАй бұрын
Not yet! Next time I'm in the area I plan on rafting the rest

Man, I really enjoyed this video. I work in the big chemical plant in Narrows you passed by. I do a lot of day activities in a couple of the Bluestone rec areas. It is so interesting to see this beautiful river from your perspective. Well done!!!

Beautiful. I’m in SW VA on The New. I loved seeing your trip and was stupid excited when you made it to where I am. 😂🤷🏻♀️. I love the banjo 🪕 theme music nod to Appalachia. I enjoyed watching how the river grew each day and didn’t realize that. Just about all of the towns you passed were damaged by Helene #appalachiastrong And I agree the vision of our mountains in the distance is grand but up close they’re magic.

Great video work Blake. Nice to see you in the KZbin world. Since canoeing is your world, this could be a great opportunity for you. I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to seeing your trips. All the best Blake ! Barry Loy / CSR back in the day , the OA days were the best!

Yall should try kneeling when going through the rapids. Someone has installed some nice knee pads for that
@BlakePaddlesАй бұрын
We went back and forth between kneeling and sitting depending on how difficult the rapids are. Even with pads it's hard to kneel all day long!
