Thank you my brother Brett for bringing this history lesson to life! As a kid in the old days, after I learned to read, I would often escape the sermon of the day, by turning to judges, Samuel, the Chronicles, the Kings, etc and sit quietly reading those vivid history lessons until the preacher called us to stand for prayer. I confess. I loved the old testament stories more than the preacher. I suppose, that's why I enjoy your messages today so much more. I'm making up for lost time and the internet makes that possible.

Read your Bible and ask for discernment, what they teach at those types of churches is self love, self acceptance, self self self. Not of God in my opinion. We need to study the scripture diligently for ourselves.

Oh, please please be careful when you’re speaking against the Holy Spirit and the evidence of the Holy Spirit your teetering close to blasphemy brother, anyone that’s ever been filled with the Holy Spirit, and given the language of God to speak, knows it is all consuming overpowering bliss that you can’t help but dance in the aisle it is pure joy, love in the purest form sent to you by God himself!!!!!

*@Lissa,* I, and maybe others, have written a long comment to him about this and the place of the Gifts, especially the subject of Tongues. I agree with him, Tongues can be abused, which is *why* Paul wrote as he did concerning it,and stating that "...I speak in tongues more than *any* of you..." but he did not want non-believers coming into the church and either thinking them lunatics or the nothing different from the drug-induced gibberish and actions of the local pagan temples. You can see his point. The trouble comes when people are so open to spiritual things (note the small 's') that it opens them, as at places like Bethel, Redding, to *counterfeit* spirits, like the Hindu Kundalini spirit, the *serpent* spirit which is a 'chakra', that sits at the base, apparently, of one's spine, according to Yogic 'masters', and can be accessed via meditation (TM) and yoga. This spirit can, and *does,* pretend to be the Holy Spirit, and is, therefore, a *deceiving spirit!* This is what I believe has infested and misled the Bethel, and similar, Fellowship, and that is shown by their teaching of using 'angel' (tarot) cards and ennaegrams, to 'discern' (divination) 'G-d's wiil', and 'gravesoaking' (a form of necromancy) all covered by a Christian veneer. A number of recent 'revivals' went this way, as well, but "...all things work together for good for those who love G-d and *are* called according to His purpose. .." , so we can know that something righteous will have come out of them. So you might see that why Ps. Brett has a.... wary... eye on these things, and we may need, for him and ourselves, to ask the Holy Spirit for both wisdom and discernment concerning both the global spiritual, um, confusion (if not attack) on the Remnant Church (as opposed to the more compliant Church Politic), and Ps. Brett's comments during his always brilliant expositional teaching. I have not received any acknowledgement or reply to my comment, though I know comments *are* read by the Athey modes, or if Ps. Brett has read it, lr yours - he probably gets 100s, if not 1000s, a day - so all I can do is pray that the Holy Spirit will address the issue with him at some, soon, point, dear sister. Don't give up on him yet! Shalom.

Sorry, dear sister, I was referring to Paul's 1st Epistle to the Corinthians, a very fractious young Christian church, of which Paul had to keep working on to put out the various spiritual 'fires' that kept erupting among the newly saved, as they brought their old pagan habits into the Fellowship rather enthusiastically... 😕😲

@@chrismaguire3667 I totally and fully understand all of the points you bring up, but I cannot deny what I have experienced myself on my knees in my living room with praise and worship music praying in honest faith to be filled with the Holy Spirit continuing my prayers, but then they start coming out in a language that only my soul can relate to. And a few times in a church. Of course we need to discern all the spirits but there’s so many scriptures on the Holy Spirit coming to you, dwelling inside you, etc. and I promise if you get a full dose of the Holy Ghost, you will not be able to contain yourself. My first experience, in a church, at eight years old, I didn’t know what was going on. I thought everyone looked silly and stupid and it was noisy but my aunt started to pray for God to touch me and boy did he touch me and I am so blessed and thankful to have had that experience.
