This is ridiculous 😢 I'll be middle class soon and I guess I have to pay copays and deductibles again since I was 19. They do NOT want to help the middle class or lower class anymore beware.

Hey, I got long covid and lost everything in a flood. I was homeless for a year and a half, and have now worked my way into an apartment at least. The middle class are not the ones who need Medicaid. It's people like me who can't work due to cardiac and lung issues from long covid that need it. It's hard to even afford food or clothing. The little money i can make from my work from home job only covers rent and nothing else. I'm just grateful for days when I can eat a full meal or eat more than twice a day. Or can afford a pair of shoes without holes worn in them. I know financial struggles suck regardless of what class you're considered as, but I would give ANYTHING to be in your shoes. You're so blessed to be considered middle class and to not live in constant fear of losing everything. Or how you're going to eat today. You are LUCKY. Be grateful for it.

All these comments complaining about the parents of seriously ill kids receiving Medicaid and nobody pointing out that the pharmaceutical companies are making hundreds of billions of dollars in profits from ripping everyone off. Limit how much these greedy monsters can charge for meds and medical supplies. They make us struggle and argue about how to pay them their billions or let our kids die while they roll naked in our money. Blame those actually at fault for this, not the families trying to keep their kids alive.

The commenters here with zero experience in healthcare or patient advocacy and who are judging this family are the reason why our healthcare system is so broken. The level of indoctrination against something that is normal and works everywhere but here in the US is killing people and driving people into debt. After over 7 years of working as a lawyer in patient advocacy I understand exactly why this family needs Medicaid and I would never ever deign to judge them or question why the little girl is on Medicaid. Unless you live it or work in it, don’t judge it. The lack of humanity here is staggering and shameful. Our country is failing because empathy is being demonized and apathy applauded all while the rich and powerful make life harder and harder. But it’s far easier and lazier to simply look at our neighbors and call them the problems. Imagine being upset because a seriously I’ll child gets help getting medical care. Imagine having never had any experience with this kind of situation and trying to judge the parents are make suggestions. Unreal. Not good. But 100% American.

Y’all clearly don’t understand that Medicaid spendowns exist. If your medical expenses drastically outweigh your income, you can qualify for Medicaid past a certain dollar amount. Also, there are waivers for medically complex people that involve higher income limits (I’m on such a a waiver) Even with private insurance, my care was HUNDREDS of dollars A DAY. ONE medication at list price was $40,000 a year. My wheelchair was $32,000. My tube feeding formula alone was $45. The pump we paid out of pocket for was $700

Id so much rather pay higher taxes, and have free healthcare. Thats my 'health-insurance'. My son was born 3 months early. I paid nothing for that care. In the US, I would be millions in debth - fighting with insurance companies. All uninsured people in America. Dont dare to go to the doctor, afraid of the costs. All children that may not receive the healthcare they need, because the parents cannot afford it. Or the elderly. So sad😢

Reading the comments here should show why we don’t have a functioning system here. Too many people have been brainwashed to think it’s a bad thing all while they drown in debt or go without care and judge their neighbors and fellow citizens for getting help.

This family looks like they live in a really nice home. They definitely have enough to get coverage under another insurance provider, such as United Healthcare. I don't earn 6 figures, and STILL manage to pay for health insurance for myself (dealing with chronic illness) and the 2 other people in my home. ~$1,600 monthly.

I know my local office seems to like kicking people out of the program. I get two or three letters at the same time for something and they contradict each other. And with my job, I either have to miss time from work work or get up and be at the office before 11 on Friday. Never heard of a government office closing at noon on Fridays.

So the family with a little girl seem to be in a nice home, and the mother is a registered nurse. So how are they not qualifying for insurance or paying for insurance for their daughter? Also, the other family looks like they had taken a trip to Universal Studios. Some people really do deserve Medicaid but I’m not sure all of them do.
@Westygal867
@Westygal867 Жыл бұрын
Oh dear, someone without all the information is out here judging other people so harshly. (You @barbm8822). We don't know when these kids were diagnosed, nor how much money these families have already sunk into their kids' care. The mother who is also a nurse most likely has to be home 24/7 to take care of their daughter, which means she can't bring in income or have employee healthcare. The family who went to Universal may have been gifted their tickets. Just because they live in a "nice" home and took a vacation doesn't mean they don't need Medicaid. I'm sure if we all looked at your life in a 30-second clip we could make a lot of wrong assumptions about you, too.

This is funny since all billionaires qualify for social security benefits in their retirement years, even though they only were taxed on 160k per year. We pay billionaires social security benefits even through they are rich. Why can't middle class people get assistance too. Why do they have to be destitute to get help.
@Blindlygoingmandy

Medicaid provides coverage for services not covered under private insurance. And her mother has to take her to multiple appointments and manage her care. That makes having a full time job hard. I am a healthcare law attorney working in patient advocacy. What I’ve learned is that it’s no small feat to care for a medically fragile child. If you don’t live it or work in it….don’t judge.

Sounds like a nightmare if ppl are losing Medicaid if, in fact, they are eligible. For those ppl that are not actually eligible, they remind me of the ppl that were given housing during the pandemic and now they're losing it because the pandemic is officially over. Assistance during the pandemic was only temporary but it's hard to give it up once you get used to it.

Welcome to the state Healthcare sadly thats what they have always done. They'll just drop people wothout saying or sending anything so the people, we have to keep track when we have to reapply again. I believe we have to reapply every six months so they dont just drop us from Healthcare and they do it almost everytime. But knowing there doing that to the children now, its very disturbing to me b-cuz I thought no matter what kids would always be covered in Healthcare but I guess they changed that. Like I said its f n disturbing and not ok.

Just because she is a nurse it doesn't mean they can afford thier family's medical insurance-1200.00+/month is a big chunk of income for most families. Most employers now do not offer an affordable medical coverage to thier employees or it only covers very basic and not expensive treatments.

@@garykubodera9528 there is a man in the house as well .. Medicaid is income based … the average salary for an RN is 75k a year .. so they have to be making at least 100k a year even if the husband works at Walmart bagging groceries… I don’t understand this story

@@catholiccat8489 They have a chronically ill child who needs likely 100s of thousands of dollars of medical care each year which may exceed their insurance limits. Or, the father may be self employed and have no access to employer- based insurance. The mother may be working less than full time, or as a contract nurse which makes her ineligible for employer- based insurance. I'm not sure if CHIPs is income- based, but regardless, apparently this family qualifies. The reporter may also have mischaracterized their coverage - it could be obamacare which is subsidized by Medicaid.

I feel like individuals who have been on the government assistance whether it's food stamps Medicaid or otherwise need to be able to pay a portion of those Healthcare needs! This is why the system is going to require those who claim they are not working to have a job in order to still qualify for Medicaid! Working Americans who have employers who have insurance that maybe is too expensive should also be paying a portion of the Medicaid for their family's needs! Healthcare is not for free! Taxpayers who have insurance from their employers like myself do not need to pay for others who are not paying into the system for their Healthcare needs for themselves and their families! The system has let it go on for too long and it needs to stop somewhere!
