I like to think that the whole conversation in the Chamber was the Riddle memory buying time. Like, he wrote that message on the wall assuming nobody knew where the Chamber was, nor was there anyone who could get in. It was a taunt to spread fear, thinking he was perfectly safe. However, when Harry showed up, he detoured and tried to delay Harry until the "download" was completed.

If you notice, both the Fantastic Beasts entry and the page that Hermione tears out on basilisks doesn’t mention anything about Petrification. It only says the gaze of the basilisk can kill. So if anyone were going strictly off that, it might not actually be common knowledge that indirectly seeing the basilisk's gaze only results in Petrification.

The weird thing is, Fudge knows that Voldemort can return and says this very thing in relation to Sirius Black's escape from Azkaban. (Something along the lines of "Give him back his most faithful servant and I shudder to think how quickly he'll rise again.") Fudge apparently just can't accept it actually happening.

57:48 Since ghosts seem unable to ever get over their grievances, maybe the reason Myrtle wasn't questioned on her murder by staff was that she deliberately avoided them, because they'd let her get bullied and she'd built up an anti-teacher resentment.

That's interesting... it's not cannon of course, but the James potter series has ghosts returning after all sorts of gaps and I unconsciously went with that... mertle comes back after a decade, finds olive harasses and stalks her till she seeks intervention... by the time myrtles back voldy is doing his thing so Dumbledore is rather preoccupied and the information slips through the cracks

1:23:00 Then again, that possible charm preventing Fred and George from telling Ron anything about sorting hat, seems not to prevent Harry from not only telling about it to his son Albus Severus. not only does he tell about the hat, but also the fact that you can influence the hat and it's decisions by your own choises.

As someone who rides a motorcycle, footrests are amazing. They aren't necessary as you could just clamp the bike between your knees to keep your legs up, but footrests are just more comfortable especially at higher speeds. Dangling your feet because you have to stop often is nice, but dangling feet on the Autobahn doesn't sound fun at all.

Regarding the question about the language we read the books. I started them in my mother tongue when I was about 12. I read the first 4 books in Hungarian, and then I got the 5th in English as a present at 15 and after that I read the rest of the books in English, and ever since I've been rereading them (and almost all other books) in English.

I'm amazed that Dumbledore hasn't been asked to repair the wands that students have broken. He has the elder wand. With all of those kids around there are bound to be more broken wands than Ron's and Neville's. Maybe even set aside an hour on Saturday mornings just to repair broken wands.

We know from Hogwarts legacy, at least marvolo went to Hogwarts because Ominus was saying his older brother had already finished school. The game is Canon also it takes place in 1890. 36 years before Voldemort is Born. By this timeline it must mean that Ominus is Toms unkel.

Oh, interesting. I've never played the game... I'm so dodgy at that sort of thing. Wish I could watch someone play the way I did with my brother, who was good at rescuing the princess in Mario Bros. Using his Nintendo decades ago. Dyk if anyone covers that content? Considering the relative who started ilvermorney was forbidden to go to hogwarts, due to pure blood mania, it occurred to me it wasn't that uncommon for gaunts to home-school... though for marvolos kids, it was more like they were the wizard version of 'unschooled'. Could be that son got expelled, (asked to leave) so daugher wasn't allowed to go because of the shame. My other theory was that Tom was keen to think himself more important than he actually was and has a dubious relationship with the truth and he was just brushing over the details when he said he and Harry were likely the only parselmouths in a melenium at hoggies.

"Otherwise were wasting a whole year here where you're not making any progress." While I would tend to agree one could argue that the handicap of a broken wand could actually be much better training in the long run as it forces the wizard to try that much harder to overcome it. Which, theoretically one should be able to do as wandless magic is possible.

52:28 now I want an entire rewrite of the Harry Potter story but using each of the Weasley kids for each New Year. Well, I guess it would have to be starting with Percy for the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone, then Fred / George for Chamber of Secrets and then the other twin for Prisoner of Azkaban. And then Ron for the Goblet of Fire and Jenny for the order of the phoenix. And then have Hermione for the Half Blood Prince and Harry or maybe even Neville for the Deathly Hallows!

I don't think Dumbledore puts stock in the prophecy, rather he puts stock in Riddle putting stock in the prophecy. Dumbledore KNOWS Riddle is doing that, so he operates accordingly. This is what he tries to tell Harry at the end of OotP - the prophecy itself isn't determinative , but people's (mainly Harry's and Voldemort's in this case) actions, based on whether or not they believe it in it, is determinative.
@t.j.armendariz354

This. I think Dumbledore puts stock in it solely because Voldemort did and thus set the prophecy in motion making it now the necessary course of action

Then Dumbledore should have fought Voldemort himself, since he didn’t really believed in the prophecy and so, he can control his own actions and beliefs. But maybe he was too old, who knows.

I’m pretty sure the diary is the first horcrux and I think the reason for the diary flipping to a certain page is because that page is the date the event happened the book says it has a date in the corner of each page so I think the logical interpretation is that each page represents a day

Quick question for you, would the order have considered the Ford Anglia perhaps with additional enchantments to provide durability, maneuverability, and abilities, for the Battle of the Seven Potters had it not been used in Harry's second year? It seems pretty difficult for any sort of curse to reach the inside of a car (that can cloak itself as far back as Harry's second year) as long as it's built securely.

If we wanna go off the idea that the Sorting Hat is its own secret keeper, the theory would be that it got “killed” when Voldemort set it on fire and thus the secret keeper status passed onto everyone who had ever put it on. At least that’s how I’ve heard/seen it explained.

1:40:54 okay so hear me out… what if, and I know it sounds crazy, but a love story between slytherin and ravenclaw. We know Rowena has a daughter. We know there’s an heir of slytherin. What if all that friendship blossomed into a beautiful and lovely romance. Helena is born, there’s a rift, and not only did Godrick lose a friend, Rowena lost her husband, Helena lost her father…. And helga lost a cool buddy? Hahaha the idea that the founders had kids but no spouses that we know of irritates me and forces me to believe that they were their own spouses. Perhaps helga and godrick fell for each other, his cheery and fun attitude and her willingness to love all things food related make for a fun couple, while slytherins moody and secretive demeanor added to Rowena’s desire for all things to be clever and witty make for a fun pairing. I’m also a true romantic and can’t imagine a world where 4 friends, 2 male and 2 female, wouldn’t fall for each other after years and years of friendship. Especially knowing some of them have kids and no spouses detected. It’s fun to think about at least 🤷🏼‍♀️ Edit to add that I know the heir would have to have had an heir, so Helena would had to have had a baby, but maybe she had a little brother too?? Maybe he carried on the legacy? Maybe he sired the gaunt family line? Perhaps?

When he engages with Slughorn about horcruxes he doesn't yet know much about them. Go review that conversation. If he has the family ring then, I don't think he CAN have made it into one yet because he doesn't yet know how. Isn't that what he was asking of Slughorn? +If not for this piece of info I'd have predicted that the ring was first because if he slaughters all the Gaunts he's got the house to himself and can take his time working out how to create a horcrux. But given everything about Myrtle's death and the unlikeliness of the diary as a not-so very treasured item, I would say all the evidence points to Myrtle and the diary as being just a lucky (to him) happenstance, a perfect situation for him to test out his new information about making horcruxes. I would say Myrtle is not his first murder necessarily, but the diary as definitely the first horcrux, the 'test' horcrux. And afterwards everything else was carefully chosen for it's significance to him. By this line of reasoning, he'd already killed the Gaunts and stolen their ring, but that he'd have waited until he tested the thing out on someone else first before making the ring into one too. So the ring would be number 2 and the diary horcrux number one.
@lkhai6243
@lkhai6243 7 ай бұрын
I think Dumbledore interprets that conversation as Tom already knowing how, but wanting to know how many could be possibly made. Because there were books about horcruxes in the library before Dumbledore removed them... I could be wrong though, but that's how I've always read it. Tom knew how to make them already, he just wanted to know how many. Slughorn didn't teach him how to make them in the memory

I'd like to see your take on them. Make them how you see them and how they can either contribute to the story or be the characters that show that there are more to the book than we realize.
