I feel like illusion magic is magic that mimics and manipulates reality, therefore it can impact and build upon what is set in reality, that is why illusion constructs like the body doubles gus makes can interact and even think on their own. Illusion magic is likely undervalued due to not being too effective on their own. An allusion to illusion magic (lol word play) can be seen with the Light glyph. On its own, the light glyph rather bland and can only produce a ball of light, useful but basic/easy spell that even toddlers can cast, like Amity said in Covention, but when combined, it gives power to other glyphs, likely being a vital part in any combination glyph magic. Light is a vital essence to illusions, such as when it is reflected off a mirror revealing something that is and is not truly there, which turns out to be the very symbol of the illusion coven.
