I'm from the UK but love Seattle (been there a few times over the years), and did the Coast Starlight from there to LA for my honeymoon back in 2012. I really like Capitol Hill, and wandering around the bars up there like the Comet Tavern. I do know the homeless problem is at epidemic levels there though (much like SF) which is one of the reasons I haven't been back in years.

Hello Fellow Seattleite here I just wanna say hope you had fun in the city and had wonderful food, sorry for the sketchy parts of the city but hope you had a blast, I would highly recommend going to some of the islands Orcas Island, Bainbridge Island, Whidbey Island, etc.
@craigcampbell18436 күн бұрын
For anyone who has never been to Seattle I always recommend a harbor cruise from Argosy Cruises and the Underground Tour. The harbor cruise will let you see the city from the water and points out landmarks and the Underground Tour is a fun and humorous way to learn the history of the city. Both are a short walk from the Pike Place Market.
@liannebedard55214 күн бұрын
You can take the ferry to Bainbridge, have lunch, return for a museum visit, a waterfront stroll, munch your way through the market for dinner…catch a baseball game in season…or a dozen other things…without having somebody yak at you on an Argosy cruise. Or you could head for one of the gentrified neighborhoods and spend yourself silly.
@craigcampbell18434 күн бұрын
@@liannebedard5521 sure. You could do that but if you actually want to learn a little bit about Seattle, Argosy will give you a guided tour which a lot of tourists like. Some people want to learn things about the place they’re visiting instead of just standing on a noisy dirty ferry for an hour to get the cheapest view possible. I didn’t say “if you live in Seattle and already know everything about it and just want the cheapest boat ride you can get”. I said if you’re a tourist and you want to learn about the city…
@liannebedard55214 күн бұрын
@@craigcampbell1843 This is my 30th year in Seattle. I have used the ferry…and the good market just beyond the park…as a quick escape for years. Smile…old people can ride the ferries for $1…round trip. Bainbridge has better boutiques than Bremerton, though the ambience kinda lags…
@craigcampbell18434 күн бұрын
@@liannebedard5521 yes. That is something I would do when I lived there too. My comment wasn’t for people who live in Seattle though. My comment was for tourists who have never been there before that might want to learn about the city. Residents aren’t going to want a guided tour but they’re a fun way to learn about a new place when you’re only going to be there 2-3 days.

I grew up in WA and been to Seattle so many times but what’s cool about your video is covering things I’ve never seen cuz I moved to SoCal in 1985 which was the last time I visited Seattle itself. Seattle is def a pedestrian friendly city. Pikes place market, the monorail, and space needle are iconic must sees in my opinion. I’ve heard about the glass museum. I’d love to go one day. Usually when I’m in WA I’m visiting my mom so stick around Vancouver and Portland, which are also great places to explore on foot. Great public transportation. Tho having a car there can be a great advantage. But in Seattle having a car in town is not an advantage. Same with downtown Portland. Food and drink culture is fantastic in Seattle. Cute that you got a fancy rainier beer. Very local beer. It brings back memories of their old commercials from the 70s of frogs who end the night croaking out the sounds: rainier, beer, rainier, beer. It was a crazy commercial but it’s stuck in my brain forever. lol. Olympia beer is another local beer made in Tumwater WA and you can visit the park with the waterfall that’s the logo on the front of the bottles nearby the brewery in the town of Tumwater near Olympia. Well thanks again for the review of your travels. Glad you had such a great day in Seattle after such a crazy train trip up

I lived in Seattle for quite a few years and quite close to the Space Needle...yet I only went up it once when an out of town friend was visiting. It's always fun to see what tourists do in Seattle versus being an actual resident. I frequented dive bars and went to Mariners games. And a good shout out for Caffe Vita. Every location they have is good!

@@johnchedsey1306 I arrived at the first of the coffee rush. As a onetime food editor, it was fascinating. Outdoor stands everywhere …and a free weeklong seminar, aimed at potential entrepreneurs. The young owner of Caffe Vita taught us…remember his describing a young couple from Denver…a city I know…who had poured their savings into a stand near the statehouse in Denver…and spent days with barely a customer. Until a guy walked up and said…okay, I gotta know…what is this stuff in tiny cups…and returned with his buddies the next morning. Returned to Denver a decade ago…coffee shops everywhere. Music. Coffee, fish, football…glass sculptures..one way or another, good old left wing Seattle will part you from your money…
