As a Sixer fan and a former Ben defender, what makes his situation different is that he never once admitted any blame for his bad play. He literally said “how many assists did I have” after Game 7. Throughout his whole career, he’s done himself a disservice by never admitting to himself or others his struggles, making it virtually impossible to improve. While obviously the Sixers could have handled the situation better, it comes off real cowardly to play that horribly, never apologize or take blame, and then demand a trade and completely cut off communication with the team you failed

MEM I think is purposefully not going all out for max wins this year and I think it’s smart. They know they are far from contention, and they weren’t going to pay Jonas, wouldn’t make sense. They were able to get LAL 1st, they have that UTA 1st, they moved up to get Zaire Williams, they moved Grayson because they obviously didn’t see him as a longterm fit and didn’t want to pay him. They probably want to get a lot of minutes to Bane, try to see what they have in JJJr and see if he can play the 5 more, and just get their young guys more minutes in general. Plus they have assets (GSW pick, all their future picks, a lot of tradeable contracts, they’ll have cap, etc) and they’ll almost certainly have a lottery pick along w/the UTA/LAL picks. So they’ll have two picks in the late 20s and one in the early teens probably, all in this upcoming draft. So I think it was a smart move to fall back. They’re not trying to be a perennial 8 seed, they want to build a contender. They’re not a FA destination so they’re building up assets via trade/the draft, and it’s very possible once they have a better idea of their young core they decide to make a big trade or at least a couple medium sized trades to start to make that big leap. They’re keeping full flexibility in every way. Smart team building IMO. Why would they wanna pay Jonas like 3yrs $50M or 4yrs $60M after this season or something like that? That would be what a team chasing the 8 seed would do.

I totally agree with the fact that the Hate on Ben Simmons is overshadowing practically everything that happened that series, with Docs coaching, Tobias inefficiency and one Joel's bad moment. The problem I have with Ben is that, he literally was doing jackshit, in the 7 games series, Ben only shot 3 times if I'm not mistaken in the 4th quarter. So yes, I highly put Ben above all these mistakes. What I hate is that ppl really don't want to hold him accountable, and I really really feel bad for Joel. Since all of us, can agree that the PROCESS did SUCCEED, but now all of that is going down the gutter cuz of all these bulshit. You've got a man, who has been playing his heart out every single year, a top 5 MVP Candidate for like 3 yrs now, dealing with a lot of injuries and ppl don't want to hold the other person, both the Organization and the City had such high hopes for in Ben.
