as a neurodivergent person it's so nice to see someone go over giving away things they used to treasure in a healthy way! it hadn't even occured to me that those items may end up even MORE cherished and this shouldn't have to cause the immense guilt i'm feeling :)
@beckiejbrownАй бұрын
Taken a long time to feel like that... and the same for buying too. Oh my, that's amazing to see that in a shop and I'd love it... but so would a child or other person who actually needs that. There's been lots I've passed on buying in that way

I’ve had 6 donation bags at the food of my bed for 3 months now, and your video was the inspiration I needed to finally comb through the bags, organize them, and pull out anything I’ve changed my mind about. It’s gonna be so nice to get these things out of here!
@beckiejbrownАй бұрын
Sometimes it takes time though to get a collection ready. I have bags that sit for a while and then go. Sometimes it's easier to let something pile up and then do it all at once. I know that sometimes I decide to hold something back... another good reason for doing it in stages

I remember when Disney had toddler princess merchandise! As you've continued to go through your old stuff this year, how many times have you had moments of "I totally forgot I had this! (excitement!)" or "Why do I have this? (perplexed!)" or "I've been looking for this for years!".
@beckiejbrownАй бұрын
Sister and I shared three toddler dolls too. Got rid of them a long time ago thankfully. Weird times! I remember most things, theres the odd thing thats gone missing though. I have the clasp of a glittery trinket box from 1998. I honestly can't remember where it's gone. I obviously kept the clasp. Had a moment today... been looking for a specific folder with all my childhood certificates and it's been missing. Found it.... but in my music box and no certificates.... so now on a mission to go through everything to find them! When did I do that?! Some stuff I remember so vividly...

I don't struggle with getting rid of items but I often regret getting rid of stuff. Like I will randomly think of something I used to own or I'll see a photo of me wearing some clothing item and wish I still had it. Even though I got rid of it for a reason or I wouldn't even wear the item anymore. It's so weird because it's so much better to give items a new home than have them sitting in a box or bag!

Hello Becky! I'm so impressed by this video, your ability to remember what clothes you were wearing on a specific video/photo, then find it and then edit the whole thing. Also this video really inspires me to keep going through the same process, I too have tons of boxes with old stuff. However, I'm too attached to some of the memories each item brings back. How did you manage to detach from them? Does knowing you have so much footage of you wearing/using them help?

As a person still on the neurospicy waiting list (approaching 4 years now and 10 since I was first told to be tested oops) I find videos like these so helpful. To understand it’s ok to say goodbye to things for them to live a new life. I hold strong memories and emotions with objects and it’s something I’m healthily introducing now I’m approaching 27, I also don’t like having so much stuff. How you categorise your boxes is the same as me haha love it with the magazine clippings etc. I’m so happy you’re back, your videos being so much joy to others thank you xxx

Nice to see you uploading more regularly, and i'm pleased to see Blossom doing well :) We're a similar age and I've been watching your videos since we were both teenagers. If you're up for it, based on a comment you made in this video, I'd love to hear an update on your thoughts about having kids (no pressure obvs). I'm sure, like everyone, your thoughts have flip-flopped over time. I wonder if you feel any pressure from your parents to keep that box of baby clothes just in case? Also side note/tip - I have my own hoarding tendencies and I have to say, the day I threw out all my old schoolwork was a day I never regretted ;)

Haven't think of donating something as "giving what makes you happy to make someone happy" is a really kind way of viewing this. Also is impressive how you find videos where you wear something almost 20 years ago. How do you do it Rebecca? like you tags on all your videos or you just remember things better when you record them? (sorry for my potato english, I slept like 2 hours :c )

I have autistic tendancies to pile stuff, so this makes me very excited (and nosy)! I like the fact that items tell stories but Im also trying to be frugal and get rid of things in a sensible way. I say get 'rid' but I think we need to stop calling it getting rid because it doesn't sit right. Giving it a new life is probably better. Not forget to mark up clothing as 'rags' for the charity shop if its no longer wearable - they can then recycle it and get some money! (It also saves the poor person time at the charity shop because people forget they have to go through every item before it hits the shelves)

This was a random bag, haven't done one of these since 2019, so was partially curious what people would think.... if anyone would watch haha :). I can go down things more in depth. I have filmed a flat tour, but the chances are it will go up in Jan-Feb of 2025... I go down some boxes in that. In Skyrim when I play... I carry too many goods in my inventory and often have to dump stuff... have phrases now "going back to my home to dump some stuff" :D Yeah... I seperate rag from clothes, not all shops accept stuff like that (when I helped run one, we had so much rag stuff for money.... about 40p a bag if that...). But lately found the recycle centre better for that stuff. I know for sure it will go. Yeah, it really does save time for the people going through. I don't fold anymore as had so many bags tipped out infront of me... :D. I try to help though.
