I will never forget when they first did this song on the ABC. I was a kid and instantly fell in love with the Doug Anthony Allstars. Tried to follow them from that point on. I had the pleasure of meeting Paul in 2019 (I was thrilled) and just missed out on seeing Tim (on his book tour) weeks before that. One day I hope to meet all of them.

I am so glad that you put this up here - I too have it somewhere on VHS and would watch it sometimes and cry. It was aired, I think, on new year's eve about 10 years ago. It always reminds me of my wonderful girlfriend Liz and the times - including new years - that we spent together. I'm with someone else now and am very happy - but i love being taken back to these times with Liz and how i felt - and feel - about her. Thank you so much.

When l heard this the first time , l had only vaguely heard of Hunters and Collectors , and didn't know it was their song ... Paul's version is by far the best l've ever heard with all due respect to the Hunters 🙂 Paul has the voice of an angel .....his foul mouth is as forgivable as Billy Connolly's and doesn't diminish his performance in my eyes ....always loved DAAS ....they were a credit to Australia
