If only Rose had stayed healthy he would have had the edge over any PG in the game right now. Fantastic handles, superb athletism&speed, high Basketball IQ, tough defender etc... The package was just too good to be true, there are so many great PG's in the game right now but nobody can contest the form Rose was in 2009-2011.

it was also rondo's breakout season as well. this was my favorite 1st round matchup because we got to see the best pass first pg (only other match was cp3 that season) and the best scoring pg clash. and it was intense.
@lkjlkjllkjlkjlkjkljk9 жыл бұрын
Nuar I'm sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. Rose had freakish athleticism but he was always turnover prone (average handle), low basketball IQ, bad court vision, very poor passer and a turnstile on defense. He however had the tendency to try to chuck up contested 360 layups and as such occasionally made some and became a SC top 10 favorite, and as a result, the casual fans dream. All savvy basketball fans and analytics guys hate Rose. He was just a chucker with crazy speed and athleticism and was a very poor basketball player. It's not a coincidence that as injuries piled up and he lost his elite athleticism to blow by guys, he became a completely ineffective player. He was never a smart player with good fundamentals or the ability to elevate his teammates.

Roberto Carlos You rate Rondo too highly. His career stats have him at a mediocre PG. 12 ppg, 8.5 assists, nearly 5 rebs, near 2 steals per game, over 2 Turnovers per game and his FT% is 61% (for a guard). Damian Lillard would be ranked higher than Rondo in his prime. Steph Curry, Derrick Rose (even post injury is still better), Cp3, Damian Lillard, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, Tony Parker, etc.. ESPN even has 30+ pgs that they rate higher than Rondo this season. Rondo's pathetic FT% should disqualify him from any great PG competition. Rondo has low scoring, good assisting ability, decent rebounding, good amount of steals but more Turnovers and isnt even considered a threat from long distance and has an abismal FT%. A Guard that cannot shoot is absurd. That is like having a Center without height. With all that taken into account, Rondo is just a mediocre PG. Rondo is fast, gets your team assists and moves the offense around well, but there are more PGs that do that and much more.

All I can say is that that was a young and hopeful D Rose and bulls team that had high hopes and aspirations and it's tough not to think "what if" that nagging question that because of all the recurring detrimental injurious that perhaps they miss the boat? That perhaps they missed their window of time especially after this years most disappointing lost and of course that heartbreaking game 6 blow out lose where Rose shot meagerly 2-7 after the first quarter?!

Talk about taking the bull by the horns-no pun intended! Was this Rose coming out party?! Sure look like it and I do remember this series being one of the best series that I could remember in the last 7-10 years besides the Lakers and Celtics 10 NBA Finals and Heat and Spurs 13 Finals in which they all went to game 7's. It's a bit bitter sweet to watch the great potential that hasn't been realized since those two big injuries sustain by Rose. Man I sort of feel bad for the guy because he goes hard and ironically enough that had a lot to do with sustaining those two big injuries; I hope and wish him God speed in his recovery and in ressucating
@grandpa2039 жыл бұрын
Watching this shows how much players have changed over the years. You probably will never see rondo attack the basket like that anymore. He seems like he's lost that zip that you see here. Same goes for Noah...I think the number of injuries has taken alot of Noah's athleticism away. As a bulls fan I don't even remember Rose throwing one alley oop to Noah last season. #bullsnation

Rondo & DRose are both great fundamental players. They barely get fancy but still have a nice presentation. Both have nice handles and are great finishers. Rondo is a better Floor Leader while DRose is more athletic. Now for the "new" wave of PG's. The big powerhouse PG's now would have to be Curry and Irving. Both have pretty similar play styles but Curry tends to shoot more 3's and is exceptional at it while Irving goes for the drive more often. Both are great finishers even with contact. I would say they're more of all around PGs because they can pretty much do anything offensively and are decent defenders. In my opinion Irving and Curry are better than Rondo and DRose because of the amount of things they can do offensively. You can pretty much just leave Rondo as DRose open for the three an they'll make it 50% of the time.
@magtelic9 жыл бұрын
Elijah De Leon i heard there's a scoring champ in okc who plays pretty well - he might have even had 10 triple doubles this season. and he has also had season ending knee surgery like rondo and rose.
@elijahdeleon74639 жыл бұрын
magtelic lol Westbrook was outshadowed by Curry's amazing season but no doubt he is an exceptional Point Guard, well tbh I count him for of a Shooting Guard but he has his PG moments.
@magtelic9 жыл бұрын
Elijah De Leon yea curry won the mvp so clearly he was the best point guard this season. but i'd still put westbrook over kyrie. kyrie is a great scorer, but russ beat him in every stat category this year. hell, he even beat curry and lebron. you could argue lebron is the pg in cleveland so kyrie is a sg aswell. it'll be interesting to see what the coach change in okc will do to westbrooks game.
@elijahdeleon74639 жыл бұрын
magtelic well Lebron always did try to be the big assister in all the teams he's been in. Kyrie on the other hand did not really try to become the Playmaker during his playtime in the playoffs because it was his first time playing in it. He of course wanted to show what he was capable of scoring-wise which he is clearly exceptional in especially with his amazing handles that can even be debated to be better than Curry's and his ability to finish is just as good. He's the perfect example of an All-Around PG. Westbrook was always more of an Athletic PG and Curry is a 3pt Specialist even though he's also a good finisher in the paint. IMO Kyrie has the most potential to be the best of the 3 because he already rivals their abilities at such a young age, well not west brook's ability to dunk because kyrie has a mediocre vertical.
